I've played Pokemon Diamond, Platinum, SoulSilver, White, and Mystery Dungeon 2. (By Mystery dungeon 2, I mean Darkness, Time, and Sky.)
My average of the scores I would give these (1-10) is 9. It's awesome.
But the developers of Platinum, Diamond and pearl could of at least used a different storyline instead of copying the storyline over and over! (This is why I give a 7 on this one.) I mean, come on! Do I really need to listen to the same cutscene twice?? But overall, the games are great. Keep up the good work!

you can tell i love pokemon coz im growlithe123 a pokemon but anyway i say they get somwhat better until unova there pokemon are quite lame seriously a ice cream pokemon

Braviary? Scolipede? Volcarona? Come on, there's so many nice - and good! - new pokemons out there, don't get stuck on the ugly looking ones. The last gen is my all time favorite for bug pokemons.
Plus, must I specify again that every gen has its load of cancers (LUDICOLO, ARGH; MR.MIME!!).

I really liked Ruby/Sapphire. The story was nice, especially with how they added Wally into the game. Although, I really like Pokemon Yellow too. I have FireRed but I wish I could have the original.

Ralts and Dratini are the best!

Ok I don't wanna break anyone's heart or anything, but people talking about cooler Pokemon. I stopped at Pearl and Sapphire and had no idea what any Black or White Pokemon look like. Pokemon has become imaginative. Their copying their selves. Anyone who disagrees and has played all generations, when only 1 generation was out, the first one.
Some few examples even though there is a lot. Woobat? Come on it even rhymes, Zoobat. Pansage, Pansear, Panpour? They are Elemental Aipoms and monkey elements like Infernape. Really? There's at least 20 look a likes or that have the same.

I have to agree with LegendaryRedriders,at some point all new pokemons will be pure recicles of pokemons from past generations.

Oh, the memories lol. Gotta love Pokemon.

As stated by others, the Games got better with each new generation, everything from the graphics to battle and overall gameplay. Crystal was probably my favourite game in the series, as you could obtain 16 badges, and the game was incredibly long compared to most of the others.

Though, the one that I enjoyed playing the most was Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire. That was probably the first series where everything was so vastly improved upon it just completely blew me away. The bright and beautiful colors, 2vs2 battles, the huge array of berries to collect and grow, as well as the pokemon contests. My only beef was they were too short, as I found most of them to be.

Overall I think all the generations of Pokemon games are absolutely fantastic, though the Pearl, Diamond and Platinum versions are my least favorite.

My first ever Pokemon game was Pokemon Crystal. I played the crap out of it, and then got Pokemon Ruby. I played the crap out of it as well.

The ruby region was my favorite; these new games are kind of starting to look like crap...

Imma just give a short review of the gens. I use the word short loosely.

Generation 1 (Red/Blue/Yellow): I've been a Pokefan since day one. You've never seen anything as unique as a monster trainer game at this point. The tunes were vibrant and catchy, but were epic and perhaps downright terrifying at times. Every Pokemon was unique at the time, and instead of the metagame being a giant competitive tiering battle, it was harmless fighting with your favorite Pokemon. Whether it's the ferocity of Blastoise's water cannons, the strength of Dragonite's hyper beams, or the rarity and pure power of Mew and Mewtwo, it was the sauce back then.

Generation 2 (Gold/Silver/Crystal): Although I didn't start off with this gen, it's my favorite. The graphics greatly improved and new Pokemon like Heracross, Umbreon, Tyranitar, and Scizor brought both cool and deadly options to the table. The music is arguably the best soundtrack of the series, containing one of my favorite video game songs of all time, National Park, as well as a chilling champion battle theme. Besides the new Johto, you can also explore Kanto, the region of generation 1. This is the only gen to include two regions too.

Generation 3 (Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald) + (FireRed/LeafGreen): Worst. Gen. Evar. End of story. But seriously, this generation was a total buzzkill. It had the easiest storyline, the least appealing/useful Pokemon (Exploud? Nosepass? Delcatty? Srsly?), and abysmal music. I honestly hate how the GBA portrays soundtracks. Too bland. Now, sure, there are some good Pokemon like Breloom, Metagross, and Sharpedo, but many of these are forgettable and downright terrible. At least they made up for it with a decent Red/Blue remake.

Generation 4 (Diamond/Pearl/Platinum) + (HeartGold/SoulSilver): This is the middle of the road (qualitywise) of the generations. On one hand, it introduced Wifi battling and revolutionized the Pokemon metagame. It also balanced out physical and special attack determination instead of basing it on type. On the other hand, its soundtrack was kinda meh (Excluding the G/S/C remakes, those were brilliant) and the storyline was forgettable. On one hand, you have great Pokemon like Infernape, Empoleon, Garchomp, and Bronzong. On the other hand, there are meh Pokemon like Luxray, Vespiquen, Skuntank, and Carnivine. Everything else is basically a new evolution of other Pokemon, not saying they don't look awesome though like Electivire, Weavile, and Mismagius. Just not as innovative.

Generation 5 (Black/White): Just a TAD bit better than Gen 4 IMO. Again, new features for Wifi expanded metagame possibilities, the editions of cool new Pokemon like Samurott, Archeops, Bisharp, and Co***rigus were appreciated, but others like Emolga, Garbodor, Stunfisk, and Klinklang are just lame. The storyline differs from the other ones as it actually questions the morals of encasing Pokemon inside Poke Balls. That could've been executed very nicely, but it was executed in the way of two characters (Hero and antihero) acting as a Ying-Yang, fighting over the right idea. To me, that just seems forced so the new legendary Pokemon could be brought in. The soundtrack is pretty good though with tracks like Tower of Heaven, the Elite Four Theme, and Route 10.

Everyone wants to be the very best in a franchise that is one of the very best.

Love the games, but I stop there. Can't do the anime, or even movies anymore.

Azelf is my favorite. Wish I still had my DS for B&W

na i love the games through and through although it does make me wonder how many are they gonna come up with until they're going to call it a day, think the new generation are alright but think a pokemon shaped like a ice cream cone may be a little too far right?

We all grew up with pokemon. Some still play, some lost interest at some point or another. I recently found my old cache of games which includes ruby, crystal, gold, red and a couple others I can't remember right now. After a recent playing binge I must say I'm deeply enjoying them all years later. All in all, pokemon is a staple of our childhood and I'll continue to enjoy it
