To avoid so many duplicate threads, please place your ideas and thoughts on a live chat system here.

Initially, we weren't going to do a live chat, but enough users asked for it that Dan has agreed, and we'll add a live chat to the system AFTER we launch AG3. It will NOT be part of the AG3 launch.

Ideas that others have suggested:
- custom channels
- password-protected channels
- kick/ban controls
- moderation controls
- report a user

We don't know yet if the chat will be Flash based, Java based, or something else.

There should be achievements won by users, which can be later be shown on your profile. This achievements must be very complicated to get.


As a matter of fact, there's already a stickied thread on achievements. Redirect your discussion of achievements and the like there.

is there going to be private message or something like that in the chat rooms? so if you want to tell 1 person something and not everyone else you would click the users name and select private message or something like that.

It would be pretty awesome to be able to just go into a chat room with somebody.

Plus if there are chat rooms conversations can be a lot more fun.

I haven't read anything about private messages being in the chat, but you will be able to send users private messages on their profile. But yes, a private message feature for the chat would be nice.

thats a good idea but there should be something more like a private chat so it works like a tab but your still on one chat

AG used to have a chat system, but the problem rises in how to police it. If multiple users have multiple chats up, then how can you effectively stop people from breaking the rules?

This is in the opening post:

Cormyn said no to custom and password-protected channels on this page.

In that case you should create your own chat room on a site like Xat or TinyChat if you want to talk with a few users privately.

I don't remember AG ever having a chat system, though there has been chat spam on the forums before, including TTICA (a thread deleted several months ago that had a changing topic and was called "This Thread Is Currently About: ...&quot.

That was due more to noob users spamming than anything else. When it was just the vets and regs, it was fine.

I think the users that put live chat are looking for uses that use it to get into verbal fights with each other, it has to be a bad thing because it is not monatered from what i know, it show be banned from the site
