im an athiest and never understood why if god forgives everyone then why dose he send people to hell
Well not exactly. I was taught that I was right in beliving in God, and Christianity but it's perfectly fine that there are people who don't. God doesn't judge you based on that. It really wouldn't be fair considering how people are raised.
what a person is looking for to tell which is better.
For what? Being atheist? No you won't. At least I don't belive you will. I have a question, do most christians people belive you will go to hell for not being christian? Because I have a friend who belives that.
"anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come."
Oops. Looks like I'm gonna rot in hell then.

you know what I find ridiculous is that all the atheist or people of some other religion or not is usually answering all these questions not a christian.
Because atheists are smart enough to answer.
There would likely be far less issue with Christianity if more people had been raised under those ideas.
Proof means something is real, materialistic, end of story. With faith people can reach an almost fervid level where everything that goes against their belief is wrong. Neither is really better. Proof is good because it's fact but with faith you can bring people together and I've seen how it can affect people. Both are powerful things. There are definitely many differences but it really depends on what a person is looking for to tell which is better.
Depends how you determine faith. He's talking about the entirety of faith, not just religious faith, and it is used by everyone, usually where social development arises. I have faith in my Dad, and I don't have faith in my brother in law, there's an example.
Also fact isn't better than fantasy, play World of Warcraft, it's freakin' awesome when you're new to it.
Or Starcraft...
Actually Mass Effect II, I voted it for Game of the Year <3

This isn't the same. You could, if pressed, provide percise reasons why you have "faith" in your dad, and not your brother in law. With religion, it does not go beyond, "I have faith that he will."
Oh, well then I guess that's the reason. I suppose moderate groups are more umm... understanding? Not sure if that's a good word for it
It also specifically says that we (Atheists) will go to hell, if you don't believe this why follow all the other crap the bible has to 'offer'
Indeed, there are arguments that Christians do not follow that idealogy, but what about if God didn't follow previous Christians' idealogy? If he didn't, he didn't do anything to stop people being murdered in the name of him, he didn't bother aiding those resisting Christianity with undeniable proof. If you follow Christianity, then sorry, but you are siding with Gods contradictory and pretty merciless behaviour (or lack of behaviour).
I follow God because like having God in my life. I like being able to talk to God and I hate seeing people in pain. So this religon is perfect for me. Well, the way I was taught it is perfect for me.
if those are your values then Catholicism definitely is not the religion for you
Sure it is. Maybe they just teach it a little different where you are.
or perhaps they teach it differently where you are, however i take my knowledge of catholic beliefs from the pope, and he sure has a lot to say that i would rather he didnt
Wasn't the thread about benevolent gods making evil about the same as this?
no?, because thats about, the question why would a benevolent god create evil, and this is about why there is a hell, i see absolutely no similarity?!
