I love the weather and have always been interested in it. To me, the creation of incredible storms and the patterns of heat, wind, fronts, and pressure systems in absolutely incredible, especially since many of these things still baffle humans!
I want to know: does anybody share my interest? Any other weather buffs out there? Or, some interesting story or fact about the weather?
I think might be ok cauz I live in new York. What do u think?
Don't count yourself out just yet. Read this article. In short, it says you may still experience high winds, power outages, and downed trees. It could get nasty...
It's raining! WOOHOO! It was a lot of wind and lightning a few minutes ago with no rain, then the wind and lightning stopped, and it started showering.

This is a 13+ site anyway.
Anyway, the temperature has sky rocketed to the high 80's, and it's pretty windy but there's still hot air. It's almost 9 now and it's still in the low 80's/high 70's. Great...just great...like not. It's hot.

Well to stay up to date go to the The Weather channels site or just look for snowguy's post on hear.
Heh, for you maybe. But Texas does need the rain. Maybe if it went there and weakened to a heavy-rain-producing depression, it'd be good. Nobody needs hurricane-force winds.
The TX thing was a joke, I just meant that in a good way, they do need some rain.
That's very scary. Just proof that even weaker hurricanes like Ike (which was a Category 1 when it made its second landfall near Texas) can do massive damage.
Well it wasn't exactly the ceiling that tore down. It's that white plaster that fell off due to getting wet. I wouldn't have exactly been injured. But you are right, Hurricanes are scary and that's why we GTFO.
And it could be a Category 3 (major hurricane) or still a Category 2 when it hits... Just saying, if I were you, I'd make sure you are prepared. It could get very bad, all the way up the East Coast even. I can't emphasize enough, please don't take this lightly.
I wasn't taking it lightly, I just think that it has long ways to go so assuming what it will or won't do isn't going to do much. Predictions regarding the speed of the winds change a lot as time goes by. But again, I'm not saying it isn't something to worry about.
Threat levels for the hurricane coming up the east coast:

lol the temeperature here got cooler its in the sixtys but the rain is oldly warmer than the air which confuses me for some odd reason.
Sorry everyone, I don't have the time to respond to all of your posts like I normally do...
Thank you mrTrippy for posting those images. Hurricane Irene has again strengthened more than anticipated. It is now a Category 4, and is much more well rounded than yesterday.
The models continue to slowly walk its track eastward, but NO ONE is safe from it yet.
