I love the weather and have always been interested in it. To me, the creation of incredible storms and the patterns of heat, wind, fronts, and pressure systems in absolutely incredible, especially since many of these things still baffle humans!

I want to know: does anybody share my interest? Any other weather buffs out there? Or, some interesting story or fact about the weather?

Please, share it here!

hot here in the summer but very cold in the winter

Sounds a lot like where I live. Except nothing can be expected, except the unexpected here. :P
My history teacher last year had gone to Florida last year during
winter break. He went to a starbucks, got his coffee, and asked the cashier if the outdoor seating was available. The cashier looked at him like he was crazy and said, "Yes, but why would you want to sit out there? It's only 50 degrees out." He explained, "I just got here from Wisconsin where it's -15."

xD I can just imagine that! I think the differences in acclamation between regions of the U.S. are very interesting (and funny).
As long as there is no drought. I'm perfectly fine. I think we've gotten enough water. And too much rain is sort of bad. Slippery roads lead to car accidents, flooding, mudslides, etc.

I can understand that. Drought is awful, as seen in the southern states this year, but too much rain can be a ton worse. I just learned today that FEMA refused Governor Branstad's (of Iowa) request to make seven eastern Iowa counties declared disaster areas. They were (are still being) hit hard by floods earlier this year, and Branstad (and many Iowa residents) still fear the worst may be impending.

Here is Winter now. Geography books and Wikipedia state that my region's weather is almost unique. The winter is cold and rainy (with strong southern wind). Even snow was reported near here Some days the temperature stay near 15 C (1 C on the morning).

Average degrees here by now is 15 to 20 Celsius.

Our summer is hot and dry. Degrees can go up to 36 C on hotter days.

A curious characteristic from here is Northern wind days. The warm northern winds can make a winter day have up to 25 C. This wind blow for days and then a heavy rain falls. When the rain is over, cold is back to the town.

That's the most interesting thing that has been posted on this thread(no joke). Also so much conversions you made me do.

@Roger721

1 C is about 33 F, not too bad! It can get to -10 F (about -23 C). Eeek!

36 C in the summer?! That's about 105 F! It gets to the upper 90's F (low 30's C) on the hottest days here.

That's right, your warm winds are from the North! That's weird to think about! My warm winds are from the South! And, 20 C to 25 C because of those winds is quite a drastic change! Then rain follows? That's really interesting!

Thanks for sharing!

Today's high was in the upper 70's! That's incredible, compared to what it was. It felt so amazing to be outside and not sweating before I even do anything!

Today was in the lower 80's I believe. It wasn't that bad. But it was hot, good thing it wasn't TOO hot or else I would melt.

Today was one of those days where a storm is above you all day and nothing happens. At noon it looked like there was a green-ish gray color in the sky. At 2:00 I was hope for it to pour nothing happened except some lightning. The clouds were gone by 4:00 and I was sad. No awesomeness today I guess.D:

Today, the air's humidity was awfully high. Everything around here was wet and papers turned onto floppy little messes.

Around 6pm, rain poured until now...

That sounds nice! I can totally relate to the "too hot" part...

I get so piqued when that happens! And believe me, storms seem to hate me; I have to endure annoying weather like that all the time.
You said there was a greenish color? That could've been a funnel or tornadic activity... :O

Ugh. Humidity is just awful! Did the rainstorm take some of the humidity away?

It's a great thing that they invented the air conditioner! Anyway, usually heavy rain starts in mid-November. Can't wait...

Lucky! I love heavy rains! November isn't a very weather-fun month for me. It either rains an annoying, light, cold rain or snows just a little. Nothing exciting.

Where did you vacation? It was in the upper 90's here, with heat indices in the 110's, so I know how you feel! It stinks!

Right now it's barely raining, almost stopped, but it's not quite sunset yet, so the sun's out and there's a nice vibrant rainbow (but only the ends are visible due to some low clouds). Other than that the sky is very blue where there are no clouds and I just looked up and to the south where there was a blue cloud: white at the top, icy light blue in the middle and gray on the bottom. It almost looked like a snowy mountain top.

Here in brazil it's perfect, Like 70 degrees fahrenheit and nice sunny skies. Usually it's super hot here (like 110 degrees) but now it's in the winter where in the morning it gets a little cold (50 degrees) and in the afternoon stays around 70. Thank god it's not summer though, the temperature is brutal (110 degrees like I said earlier). And the minimum in summer is like 80 degrees. Please note that this is in fahrenheit by the way. Obviously since if it was celsius I would be dead XD.
