The term seems to have gone from just a derogatory word against lesbians to being a slang word for gay women. If it's used amongst a group of gay friends or by other gay people then it's not so bad. But it can still be used as an insult by hateful people which is the reason I don't personally use it.
But you have a point, it depends on what sort of people you are around.
Most people rule out the homosexuals due to them being different. If some race had green skin, they would become minority. It's just that the fact that. . .the reproducing process in homosexual ways somewhat amplifies people ruling out the homosexuals as negative.
Btw, it seems to me that Homosexual males have a harder time than Homosexual females, is this true?
I don't think they have a harder time then homosexual females, I'd like to call them lesbians for the point of its shorter if thats o.k. with everyone, I think that they just look less accepted by the genders. Males like lesbians becuase of their sexual orention for some reason so they seem to be more accepted but out in public they will be mocked jsut the same, this is very difficult to explainb while trying not to offend people so I'm sorry if I offend someone it was not my goal.

Anyway, was browsing a webstore that sold books of that kind... And the covers were strewn with slangs that would easily have been used as slurs in random conversations by homophobs, or straights who don't think about it... But because it's in the - homosexual community (sort of), it's everyday language.

They tend to be more hated in general because lots of straight guys find it kinky to watch two females getting it on. Even porn sites... I visited one that had the categories Straight (lesbian and any number of males with at least one female) and Gay (all guys only)... Wtf, I say. It possibly have something to do with the fact that male sexuality is something that is way more acknowledged than female sexuality - be it hetero or homo...
you do realize that there is no reporductive process there... homosexuals do not reproduce with one another.
Actually, some lesbians seek out gays to - well, get a sperm sample for their reproduction... I think it's rather uncommon, but it does happen...

Meh, I only get offended when said with hate. It's been written here several times and I couldn't care less. I'm just never really going to be a word I'm comfortable with personally. My male friend who is also gay uses the word f@g on a constant basis. His right to do so but I'm never going to be comfortable with a word that originally was used to mock and hate us.
I'm just kind of sensitive I suppose. But like I wrote in an earlier post about an article in the Advocate, I'm not the only one. But hey, it's all a matter of personal perspective in the end.

So true. Have you ever looked 'dyke (slang)' up on Wikipedia? It's kind of interesting. Maybe. Then again, I am just fascinated by everything on this subject (meaning both homosexuality and sexuality in general).
bleh, it seems to me that humans really just can't get along, no matter what they try, there's always the redneck mocking the black or the Asian or the g@y (no offense). My friends g@y and I'm straight, I don't make anything of it except that we have no. . .intimate bond and that I don't want to hear his . . . . Inappropriate, anime fanfictions. Why can't people just be like that?
Tell you what, my friends are straight but they watch some porn movies and in the school if theirs no teacher or the class is not regular sometimes they talk about that and sometimes they do it for fun like sucking and horseback riding but their clothes didn't get it off, all of us laughed of course. In my mind, I think they watched boy to boy sex not only the boy ang girl. Sounds a little disgusting don't you think? I, myself getting far of them.
