Well, the entire point of Squalick's post was essentially to show, via a progressive thread of rationalisations shown to be groundless, how one can come to recognise this subjective reality. Nicely done, really. Just wish more people would take the time to read it
I agree Strop it was a very good post. It shows both how the human rationale can make people think that gays/lesbians are bad or unnatural but it is very clever in that it shows that by using the same logic how they are good aswell completely taking apart the oppositins argument. Well done, a masterful use of rhetoric and persuasion.
Im not gay squalick lol but i think they should be left alone. My bro who is in the Royal Marines knows someone who was kicked out because he was gay. Think thats a bit unfair rele.
@Ricador- You need more of a basis for an argument than religion, Leviticus was written 5000 years ago, and is thus very outdated. @Widdler- Gays don't hit on non-gays, what would be the point? If others are "creeped out" then that is their problem, they are choosing to be creeped out (i.e. Mike has spiky pink hair, Susan is offended; who is at fault? Susan, she sees things in a negative light that were not meant to be directed at her or insult her.) Finally, the Royal Marines are British, and therefore should not reflect American beliefs.
Personally, despite the fact I'm not homosexual, I think it'd be fun to hit on heterosexual people of the same sex just to see how insecure they get.
@ necromancer: the better argument would have been "Leviticus was written before Jesus, and therefore is very outdated"...but same diff.
it is biologically unacceptable i honestly don't think god meant for 1+1
I suspect God meant it more along the lines of 1+n where n is an integer equal to or greater than zero.
And also, the Army represents us and we do not want gays representing America.
Who cares if it's incorrect, more importantly it's really quite backward! I thought the Americans prided themselves on their social progressiveness c.c
well the army probably doesn't want gay people in the army because, think about it, surrounded by men , lots and lots of men, for quite awhile they would get tempted
I hit on lesbians to measure their sense of humour.
And because there's something irresistible about forbidden fruit...
I know that it's hormonally (even biologically) unacceptable to them to have sex with me in the end, but it's the laughter involved in the effort that counts.
I and my bro are english and have no problem with gays at all. My bro sed he was a top man and a good soldier. At the end of the day it was against army regulations but my bro sed up until then he was a model proffessional just like all the other lads in the British army. I mean women are allowed in the army too but the men annd women out in Afghanistan don't hit on each other. They are there to get the job done.
