I'm going to utter what Duke himself would say about something he has waited a long time for: "It's about **** time!" I have been waiting since FIRST GRADE for this sucker. I am so glad this is coming in a short few days. I just hope this new game retains the elements that made Duke Nukem so great.
I am FREAKING THE F*** out for Duke! I was born in the mid-90's, so I never got around to playing Duke, but the amount of Vaporware awards the game has achieved had me intrigued when I heard the final release date was May 3rd back in January (**** you final delay).
Today I was in my local independent game-retailer when the owner popped in a copy of Duke Nukem: Forever for some demos. My friend hopped on and I didn't touch the **** thing (got my Balls of Steel Edition coming soon)
One of the opening things you can do is lift weights and play pinball, along with just punch a punching bag. One of the freshmen around me asked why you were able to do such a thing. I exploded, yelling at him, telling him it was a revival of 90's shooter styles before Halo and CoD and their clones took place at the turn of the millennia. He shut up after that little outburst - and I watched in awe at one of the best FPS demos ever.
I like how this game's story is going to be more relaxed and revolve around Duke trying to hold his ego rather than some complex chain of events and leading to a bad ending. Blastin' aliens with Duke is going to be sweet! Not to mention the multiplayer...
I've been waiting fifteen long years for this sequel to come out. I'm I'm buying it right after I get out of work. It looks awesome. The graphics look great and the humor is great. Looking forward to it.
I was very excited about getting Duke Nukem Forever but after watching countless gameplay videos, first impressions and reading the reviews I have decided not to get it. For 14 years the developers must've been adding in features that the contemporary games of the times had and Duke Nukem Forever's mix of classic Duke and modern gameplay look messier than a bloody car crash.
Dungeon Siege 3 and From Dust are now the only things this side of the year that have even my remotest interest.
My copy of DNF:BOSE just shipped, I should get it soon.
Even with what I saw in the demo(I have avoided everything since release), I still can't wait to play it. I know its not what I was hoping for but it should still be fun, I even connect my computer to my tv just to play it.
Duke Nukem: Forever is a legend. 20 years ago they announced that it was coming out. It never did, and became known as the game that was never released.
NOW IT IS. I'm buying it right after work today. And Moe why did you buy the game online? Why not get it at the store? It would have been a bit cheaper. Yes Duke Nukem Forever went through hell just to be released. It went through a law suit charge, One of the companies went bankrupted a lot of fights and so on but now it's out today. Can't wait.
It's a sequel to the 1996 game Duke Nukem 3D. And I just got this information. Duke Nukem Forever has received mixed reviews from critics, with most of the criticism directed towards the game's clunky controls on consoles, shooting mechanics, and overall aging design. Aggregating review websites GameRankings and Metacritic gave the PC version 60.00% and 62/100,[28][31] the PlayStation 3 version 59.60% and 58/100[29][32] and the Xbox 360 version 45.62% and 50/100.[30][33] Negative reviews include like Eurogamer gave it 3/10 noting that "your time and money would be better spent reliving [Duke Nukem's] iconic past than bearing witness to this gruesomely mangled resurrection."[34] IGN gave the Xbox 360 version 5.5, saying, "It's a muddled, hypocritical exercise in irritation with solid shooting mechanics and decent encounter design."[35] Australian gaming website PALGN gave the Xbox 360 version 5/10 stating that "Duke Nukem Forever is a miracle. It's also a poor game, saved only by its humour and nostalgic value. Destructoid gave the game a 2/10, saying "Nobody should think kindly of such a miserable, lifeless, grotesque little game." Not all critics gave the game a poor score, however. Positive reviews like PC Gamer gave the game 80/100, noting that "years of anticipation will spoil Duke Nukem Forever for some," but added, "Check unrealistic expectations at the door and forget the ancient, hyperbolic promises of self-deluded developers. If you can do that, Duke Nukem Forever can at least mostly succeed in its aspiration. ... even after all this time, Duke still knows how to party." According to the UK game charts despite mixed reviews, the game was a commercial success." [39]
