I am a die hard COD gamer. However, I just saw in game play for Battlefield 3 and it looks really nice! Now I am lost as far as if I should purchase MW3 or Battlefield 3?? Maybe both. All feedback and suggestions welcome.

First, if you've moral complexity that goes against the preorder bonuses presented in Battlefield 3, I suggest you don't get it. Secondly, the same probably will go for MW3 - It's removing Dedicated Servers because they don't care about the PC playerbase. Let's be honest, Console gamers are their target and I'm fairly sure they don't give two cents about a good game, only good income.

It doesn't mean it isn't good, in my opinion it really isn't, I like a challenge, I like skill involved and I like strategy, it has small aspects of each of these, but it is so random and imo easy that it isn't worth the bother of getting it. Furthermore the moral complexity with MW3 - Map packs, I wouldn't be surprised if they with hold maps from MW3 only to SELL THEM at a later date for what is usually overpriced (which to be fair 1 penny is overpriced if it was made pre-release).

I'm boycotting BF3 since they abandoned what I loved most about them, and I'm not trusting anything from CoD developers until they show some true revelations here.

Simply put you don't need either of them, stick with Bad Company or Crysis 2 for the moment if I were you.

And to those who may say "It's just a game", fine, but your willingness to accept it only will influence their opinion, and hey - you bought it, so what's the chances they'll say "Hey guys, we sold 5,000,000 copies and got 2.5mil buys on our DLC - I think this isn't good business because it goes past our pride which we already breached when we done it in the first place."

Stick to your principles, otherwise they're not your principles.

Oh, and I am aware of the preorder bonuses of Crysis 2 - maybe you shouldn't buy that either. :P
I blame MW2 for this btw. Steering the FPS track so far off, Homefront was bad, Crysis 2 was amazing but the preorders etc was terrible, even BF3 has sunk to it.
Dang.

Ahh well, if you wanna be kept entertained here's a few possible candidates.
Mass Effect 2
Starcraft 2 (Yes, I know, I mention this ALL THE TIME)
Magicka
Amnesia: The Dark Descent
Alien Swarm
Frets on Fire
World of Warcraft (Due to the stereotypical WoW player people believe is true I ask you not to comment unless you have some actual knowledge concerning this game)
Minecraft

These are the main games, I have many suggestions for old games that would be fantastic - some you may not know about (*Ahem* Armies of Exigo), enjoy these if ya can. Frets on Fire can be downloaded, Magicka, Amnesia and Alien Swarm can be found on Steam for low prices (Alien Swarm is free however) and ME2 / SCII are &quotroper" games (as in not Indie or free, etc).

Good luck buddy.

I'd say buy both. I've always been a COD guy, and I always felt BF(and other large map fps games) was a bit slow, then I came across Homefront. It has the large maps that BF has, but keeps the controls and style of weapons that COD has. I love the game, and its even gotten me interested in other large map games. So what I would suggest is, rent Homefront to help you adapt from one to the other and buy BF3 and MW3 when they come out.

BATTLEFIELD 3. This is a game that will be different from previous Battlefield games unlike COD. And when Black Ops came out I had the idea Treyarch f*cked me in the *ss and it had cost me 60 euro. So i am not going to take a chance to let Infinity Ward f*ck me and buy Skyrim (i know it is about Cod and BTF). But later 2011 or in 2012 i will buy battlefield.

I'm getting so annoyed by people dissing Black Ops. Its the best COD yet in terms of multiplayer, and the singleplayer isn't all that bad either.

Look, just because it's what you think, doesn't mean it's what everyone else will think too. It also doesn't mean that it's the right opinion.

Anyway, I may get both, just for the heck of it.

I'm going based on number of players and reviews, its not just my opinion, its common opinion.

number of players

If the number of people playing is high, then it's probably because Call of Duty is the series that most everybody knows.

reviews

Were the reviews right when the game came out? Because if they were, they didn't review one thing: Staying Power.

I'm going based on number of players and reviews, its not just my opinion, its common opinion.

Alright, now I'm gonna state a few arguments if the reviews went against CoD:
"The reviewers don't know what they're talking about"
"Only veterans of CoD should be able to judge it"
"Reviewers are not gamers, they're writers"
"So many people play CoD the reviewers are stupid"

The only difference is these arguments mostly still apply, these are my versions:
"The reviewers are hyping the game up, and won't rip on it because of its sales and how downhill they will go"
"Veterans of CoD are the ones who have left the franchise by now"
"Reviewers are NOT gamers, they look at things from a different perspective, and even so, it's not a very helpful one"
"So many people play it it's unbelievably stupid and the reviewers even worse for bolstering it further"

You can argue that it's "common opinion" all you want, I'm going to argue it's a weak and dull opinion. After all the arguments I've waged over CoD, and the lack of responses effectively countering them, there's not much to say about it further.

All very interesting points of view. In my own opinion Black Ops was not the greatest. I was hoping MW3 would blow Black Ops out of the water. Battlefield as a whole, I am completely unfamiliar with. However, the gameplay looked awesome!!! Is it me or does it seem like in MW3 you are in smaller teams with high-risk objectives? Compared to BF3 which seems like a unit performing objectives together? (I could be completely wrong)

I would say Battlefield 3
Experienced developers, free DLC offers, Frostbite 2, Great Community, Great Dev Support, Dedicated Servers, and the fact that it wasn't rushed...
MW3
Three Dev teams, two completely inexperienced with COD and the one that is in shambles, rushed development cycle, Same Outdated Engine, Not so good community, and good luck getting anything for free.

Not so good community
Depends ob the console, on Xbox it sucks, on PS3 it isn't too bad.

Modern warfare is extremely over rated and battlefield is extremely underrated.

I honestly think that Modern Warfare isn't even going to touch Black ops sales. CoD has always been very repetitive, in battle field you can get in jets, jeeps, and tanks. The maps are destructible, 64 player maps! ( on pc ) And pretty much everything else Modern Warfare has to offer.

Cods single player has always been very strong in mu opinion, but after watching the play through at E3 it definitely has it beat.

BF3 FTW! (:
