The other day, I somehow incorporated the word 'new' into whatever I was talking about, and somebody said I was pronouncing it wrong. I had pronounced it 'nyoo', whereas others around us all said it 'noo'. Dictionary.com says both ways are correct. How do you pronounce it?

I say new as 'nyoo'. I know quite a lot of people that pronounce it as 'nu'. I find that irritating.

Knew. 'nyoo'. 'nu'.


Uh. I read all of these as the same...

But I'll go with 'knew', as well.

Nu=noo, meaning without a 'y' sound.
Really? I most people saying it was noo and I said it weird. XD

Knew and nyoo are the same. Nu = noo.

I guess it depends on how you use it.

I "noo" right!

I "nu" you would say that.

Actually it depends on how you write it.

Example:
I know right!
I knew you would say that.

Oh. Well then it's just confusing for people to even use "noo" as "nu".

I say it like this. Press the little sound thing next to the bolded word to hear it.

I say it like "Knew" also, neu. aha, new.

i always used it like "knew". i never heard a different way to pronounce it not even on T.V and when i found out this is what the thread is about i was confused for a second (i thought he wanted to know how to say "new" in different languages) XD

I normally pronounce it "nu", but when I'm excited or if I am screaming, I go "nyoo" because I talk fast.

njuu.........and its not nyoo.....its NJO

What about "nuu". Sounds more Scottish. Try it!
