Recently, China has decided to change the amount of boys and girls, via, after a pregnancy test, if it is a girl, it will probably result in the death of the girl. I would like your thoughts on this approach.
China would never do that but chinese people often kill their douter or make an obortion when they see its a girl because in china every couple can have only 1 child. That means most parents want a boy that could work and help the parents when he grows up. In fact its a huge trouble and china already has way too much more men then woman and the chinese government is trying to change that.
Recently? Wow. No, not recently at all. Sex-selective abortion has been available in China since scans were able to identify the gender of the baby.

This is true, it's because of the one child policy that was in China, which although banished, it's still a custom. Female infanticide was huge in China because people were only allowed one child due to overpopulation. If they had a boy it was great as they needed a boy to work the farms etc. Girls were classified as unable workers and supporters for the family so were killed in order for the family to try for a boy. You can read about it here.
Death to to the all women ! Witches them all. Thou shall suffer whom not join the gender wars.)
Not to double post, but i just realized i totally skipped out the "Good or bad"
Of course it's bad - It's upsetting the gender balance in a country that's predominately male. This will effect the next generation as there will not be enough reproduction. One could argue It's good for the girls, as they have a better chance of marrying.
Bad. Also, China isn't helping itself. They're literally putting their economy over their culture. There's something like 130:100 for the guys to girls ratio in China. It's causing giving them marriage troubles. Also, a lot of areas in China restrict scanning to see the gender of a child, seeing as it mostly results in abortion. So allowing parents to see it won't do them any good. Then again, I think it's hard for us to understand what some Chinese go through. Their world is flooded with insane competition and a job market that is extremely sexist. Sometimes I wonder if it's fair to blame them.
Also, I've heard in rural areas, China has a 1+1 thing. In Shanghai, you can have two kids at a ridiculous tax rate, too.
Even though, I do see an economic benefit from it. See, if there are much less girls then males, then males need to compete more with each other an an economic scale to be better suiters for the brides. So this, in turn, gives incentives to all the kids in China to study hard. o.O Weird stuff.
This will effect the next generation as there will not be enough reproduction.
Well, China kinda needs that. Also, though, a few [obvious suppressed] gay groups have shown in China as well, either just because they were there or because of the imbalance.

It would be nice to have a source.
Like other people said, I think it's a misunderstanding. Female embryos are already often aborted. But not to change the amount of boys and girls but because men can work harder for the family.

I think a 2-pregnancy policy would be better; that means that even if you abort or miscarry, that still counts as a pregnancy. This way, parents wouldn't gain anything from murdering a child whose gender they don't like.
While I realize China would be soon overpopulated to the extreme if they did not control their population this is just silly. China needs to realize a woman can work as hard as a man.

If you're referring to physical work then no. Men can work (in general) harder because they're stronger.
This isn't new. India, China and many other countries have been killing baby girls for centuries. And yea, it's bad. That's why some parts in the world are actually lacking females.

I've heard that some parents abandon or kill their female babies, but that's because they want boys who can work to take care of them when they grow old, which in turn is because of poverty, and not because of the governments.
Or.. Very few babies.
I think the Chinese government sees that as a plus. They've had a problem with overpopulation.
Anyways, I don't know if it's a good idea, but as long as they're just talking about abortions and not killing anyone who's already alive, I can't say I feel very strongly against it either.
