What do you think if the big gaming companies (Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo) re-released the classic games (meaning the games that sold the best along with great reviews). They didn't change the storyline or characters, all they changed was gameplay, graphics, and maybe made the difficulty slightly easier. This would be best for future generations so they're not trying to buy a 20-year-old console and games just for it to catch fire from all of the dust.
A good example of re-releasing a classic game would be Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time for the 3DS. They enhanced the graphics, gameplay, color- coded the Water Temple (if you played the original, you'll see how big of a difference this is), and even added some very small things that don't affect the entire game as a whole. There was no storyline change, no character change.
So, do you think it would be a good idea for the companies to do this?
Yeah that could be pretty bad for business and annoying for next generation gamers. Some games that would be great candidates for the re-releasing would be:
The first four Ratchet and Clanks Sly Cooper God of War 1 Jak and Daxter Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask Star Fox 64 Castlevania (the first one) Metroid prime 1
I think it's a great thing to re-releasing games, within reason. You never get tired of the classics (Although i wouldn't consider ratchet and clank/jak and daxter in this) but old school games like donkey kong would be great on a modern console.
Anyway...I'm happy to see that they'll be re-releasing shadow of the Collosus for the PS3. I like re-releases so long as they're games that are considered all time awesome.
Why would Majora's Mask be rejected? It had a much better storyline than OoT and didn't follow the generic Zelda Formula of 3 dungeons, something happens, then x amount more dungeons that was started with LTtP.
(Although i wouldn't consider ratchet and clank/jak and daxter in this)
Mostly Jak and Daxter because that's wht started the whole thing, and it was pretty good for it's time and the first 4 Ratchet and Clank games were the best in the series. They were difficult and fun to play, and had pretty good ratings.

I would have argued it was Mario.
But Rachet and clank/Jak and dakter were only released ten years ago. I think older games should be brought in first. Like donkey kong was 1981 and it was immense.
When I said started the whole thing, I meant started the Jak stroyline, my fault, I should've explained that a little more. But yes, the older games should be re-released first
Final Fantasy 7 needs to be remade for PS3 already...It has been a painful wait and it was even more painful when they decided to put the idea on ice. Sad times.
One game I wish they re release is baldars gate that game was amazing on original xbox
If you mean Dark Alliance, then I can agree. I got Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2 for PS2, and it's still great by today's standards. And you could play co-op with a friend, during the campaign.

This is the best idea so far. FF7 is the best game in the Final Fantasy series. Granted, I haven't played most of them, but it still pwns.
I've never really played any of the FF games. But I'm always hearing such good things about them. I think I might give the 7th one a go if the series is so good.
They need to re-release DK64. That game had so much thought put into it, almost as much as SM64. It would be nice if they re-release the Gex series. Oh, and Vigilante 8 too!
I know I'm quoting myself, but I forgot that this game has already been re-released when Nintendo made the Metroid Prime Trilogy

All of those would be great for a re-release, and due for one as well.

Basically, the graphics might not be brilliant. (Obviously, but they were amazing for when it was made.) But, the story line is by far the most epic/captivating and the gameplay is pretty much flawless...I love this game so much.
