I am not ashamed to admit two things about my life. One, I am a Christian. Second, I am bisexual. I am a Libertarian at heart, and I believe in equal social rights for all.

I have heard church propaganda over and over again about how it is immoral to be gay, or to engage in any homosexual activity. The pastor at the Lutheran church that I used to go to has said, "Gays are immoral and will burn in hell." Most right-wing "Christians" will say the same thing. In high school, I fell into the same trap. I tried to repress those homosexual desires. I spoke out about immoral the gays were, and that the government should only be filled with Christians who would create a perfect Christian society.

It was my first year of college that I finally stopped fooling myself. I had repressed my desires for nearly 3 years. It is time for right-wing "Christian" politicians to accept that homosexuality is a biological function. There is no choice in sexuality. If sexuality is a choice, can straight people change to being gay? No! So why do anti-gay groups think gays can become straight? There is no 'on/off' switch that can be flipped to change sexuality.

What these anti-gay groups should be focusing on is not gays. I donât know the exact figures, but there are hundreds, if not thousands of references to helping the poor in the Bible, while there are a dozen or so references condemning homosexuality. A real Christian would not spend his/her time condemning homosexuals; instead they should help the poor, needy, and less-fortunate.

seriosly being homosexual comes from guys having over active estrogen glands or vice verca for girls also from brain structures created in the womb.

@pc123

A homo demon! Yeah, I pulled it out of my belly button yesterday. That sneaky thing! I feel straight already... give me a break. Attraction is in the brain. It's biological. Studies show that straight men and gay women have the same brain waves when aroused, and gay men and straight women share the same brain patterns when aroused (but different from the first group). Attraction is in the brain.

I used to believe that enough prayer could "cure" my bisexuality. But it can't. I've accepted myself the way I am. But I am dating a female right now, so don't worry, I am not on my way to your hell right now.

@BASHA

Hell yeah. Imagine Miranda Otto (who played Eowyn in Lord of the Rings: TT and ROTK) minus twenty years and with blonde hair. That's about the best I can do.

Basha, there is no solid explanation for homosexuality. There are so many correlations out there that there is no way to pinpoint it like that.

This topic has just changed into the homosexuality topic. It needs to go back to Christianity and Homosexuality. So, I want to pose this question again:

No where in the Bible does it say that lesbianism is a sin. It only speaks of men. Isn't this a contradiction? Is it not obvious that this sin was created by the men that wrote the Bible because it didn't fit into THEIR criteria for a well-lived life?

@Asherlee: I think the key point here is accepting that the bible was written by fallible humans with an agenda. Atheists like myself like to point out that when your god hates all the same people you do, it's a sign that you're making your god up. Christians would probably point out that humans are fallible and it's possible the bible has transcription errors because no human could possibly understand the mind of God enough to accurately reproduce his thoughts.

I think Atheists should realize that we only have a short time on this world and allow everyone to live in it the way that makes them the happiest (so long as it isn't detracting from the happiness of others). I think Christians should realize that their loving god doesn't want them hating on his children. Either way, we should accept gays and lesbians for who they are.

I totally agree. God does not want us to be hatin. Christians wonder why so many people leave the church throughout high school and college. It's because they see fundamentalist jerks going around and hating gays, lesbians, pacifists, evolutionists, atheists, and anyone who doesn't fit into their utopia. If these fundies would step out of politics for once and actually follow the Bible, there would be so much less animosity toward the church.

You stole those words from my mouth, The List Man. Some of the laws in the bible used to have meaning that they do not have anymore. Like growing two types of crops in one field. It was taken as you were trying to call upon the gods of the different crops, therefore not calling on God. I don't think god thinks we worship false gods if we do that nowadays, though. The general accepting, kind ideas of the bible are what matters.

You can't fix being gay...god knows that...but he made you the way you are for a reason. You people think God always plays by the Big Book? Well it is always a little different...i'll bet none of you know that early popes and catholics tore pages of the bible and installed pages that they wrote themselves to accord their &quoterfect" societies...

Actually, some of the participants in this forum have provided a fair amount of detail on this! I even believe that it formed a thread somewhere back in the pile...

Homosexuality is immoral. I don't think churches should look down on the homosexuals like they do, but I don't support the homosexuals. To me it seems very unnatural. There are males and females and they have sex to make babies. Males and males or females and females having sex doing it purely for sexual/bodily pleasure. If you're Christian you shouldn't be having sex till your married, according to "the old laws", and a marriage thats ordained by the bible is between a male and female.
