I know it just sounds like I want gemcraft to give away, but once one thing says you have to buy, other ones will start popping up all over the place. This is a FREE game site.

The past few games from gameinabottle have been very successful, they might be thinking that he can make more money by charging for extra content rather then giving it for free. Don't quote me on this, it is just my thinking (that is how i would do it).

I have no proof to validate the above, just trying to give you a reason why they charge.

So, do you want AG to stop accepting games with content you need to purchase, or what? Because that seems like an issue you need to otherwise raise with the developers, not the people hosting the game.

You aren't paying AG when you pay for premium content. You are paying the people who developed the game(I'm pretty sure...). How are these people supposed to continue making video games when no-one wants to pay them? You've got to have enough income to not only support yourself but your family as well.

But how does it hurt you? Many people are more than happy to have extra stuff to play, even if they have to pay.

Some of these development projects are full time jobs. That would be asking them to work more than one job just so you can have all of the content. I beat both Gemcraft Labyrinth and Castaway 2 without any of the premium content.... GCL was hard as hell to pull off mind you... but that's the fun of a gemcraft game. I enjoy the feeling of having beaten a game that some other people have to pay for before they can win.

One thing I wanna add... These flash games *are* 100% free. These games aren't like WoW where you must pay money before even starting (and paying monthly), or paying money to access other areas of the game and storyline like AdventureQuest. No, these thousand flash games come with full gameplay and storyline and you can beat and enjoy the game without paying for content. What you are paying for in these rare flash games is "extra content", such as extra weapons. While this extra content gives the game miniscule expansion, it's not like they are prohibiting access to parts of the game unless you pay.

The transaction goes through us, so your PayPal account will reflect that you paid us. But we send the money to the developers.

As others have said, Armor Games *is* free. Nobody's forcing you to pay for premium content. It's an extra revenue stream for us so we can bring you free games. Plus it helps the developers too, 'cause it can take several months to make a quality game.

If you don't want to pay for Gemcraft, we've got 2,000+ other games on the site you can play instead. )

... like ads, selling iPhone games, merchandise. These are all the ways we raise money to pay full-time staff to build and maintain the web site, hosting to RUN the web site, and pay full-time game developers, etc.

The favorite games tab (part of the unofficial AG 2.5) says there are 2153 games.

@szloviboy... I don't want you to think we're ganging up on you. I've been told by some of my teachers that for every person who asks a question, there are probably several more that are thinking the same thing that just never had the guts to ask. Everyone learned a little bit about how things run... like thanks to Cormyn some of us now know things about how they run their business we'd previously not known. It wasn't a stupid question to ask. (...if you ever come back and read this)

Well look at how many games cormyn has rated. It is impossible that he has rated more games then were put on the site. =P

AG has also lost games or deleted them over time. There's the whole "If you find that something is missing, then please tell us so we can fix that for you," statement somewhere here on the site. I'd imagine that the ones no1 misses are the ones not many liked and/or played. ...but maybe if he rated those then he kept the points for having rated them. Or maybe the admins keep all the REALLY good games to themselves >_> (conspiracy O_o)
