This is women's football. I say the circumstances are different. This has nothing to do with gender, it's just that the US happens to be better at women's soccer (compared to the rest of the world) then the men's soccer team is.

Yes,but going into the World Cup,Germany was favored,and Brazil was expected to come in second.Than USA was third.Japan over Germany was called the biggest upset in woman's soccer world cup history.
