AoE II is my favorite. AoE III is good, but my computer isn't good enough to handle all that awesomeness.

Plus, I have the expansion pack 'The Conquerers' for AoE II, so that keeps me playing. AoE: Gold Edition is fun too, in a retro way. Graphics aren't the greatest, and the lack of formations sucks, but theres more diversity I feel. A remake with all the updates a new game would offer would be awesome.

I usually play Age of Empires II with The Conquerors.
Do you know the Aok-heaven?

No. What is it?

Just checked, but my computer meets all the system requirements for AoE III. I'll install it real quick to see if I can't turn the in-game graphics down or something, because the game looks really fun.

Oh.

Just checked all my system requirements, and they're good. With everything on the lowest qualities, the game still lags when cannons are fired, or during naval conflict. :/

I have fond memories with AoE II. It kept me occupied for quite some time. I should start playing it again...

I just wish that the Expansion wouldn't have changed the music.

I've played Age of Empires 3 on the DS and it is great. I wish that they would make more games for the DS.

and if I remember there was a cheat that made you get a car 'cobra' with shoots bullets with rapid succession(lol).

I used to do that a lot on AoE 2.

It gets boring after awhile...

German Skirmisher was pretty awesome, the one time I used them. Had three groups of twenty skirmirshers facing off against 5 Heavy Cannon and 30 Musketeers. Pwnage, until my computer lagged too much. :/

'How do you turn this thing on?' in AoE II. Fun, but I don't really like to use the cheats.

'Wuv woo' in AoM spawned a flying hippopatomus. XD

You have all of them and the expansions?
That's 7 games, 9 if you count the spin-offs Age of Mythology and The Titans (expansion to AoM).

I have all 9 to date, getting the 10th one Age of Empires Online when it's released on the 16th of August.

Not really. Not even a big RTS player would need to - playing Starcraft I or Command and Conquer is good enough in itself.
I find Age better than C&C but in terms of competition etc Starcraft II definitely takes the cake, the gameplay is much better as I find a lot of the races in Age very generic compared to the 3 inside SCII.

That and does anyone kind of despise how easy it is to defend in Age of Empires? I quite hate how Stone Walls + Towers (specifically Bombard Towers as Turks in Age II) can give you such an edge. An army of 200 villagers could beat an army of soldiers through a TON of construction :<

With that in mind... methodically breaking down your opponent feels so much more satisfying afterwards.

I enjoyed making my own maps, own enemies and own castles,

Okay.... You said it was Age 3, can you be more specific?

If there was a large amount of guns in the game it was almost definitely Age of Empires III.
If the water looked pretty beautiful, it was Age 3 (or AoM if you like it that much )
If it had big cannons (or just more dynamic buildings / ships in general) it was Age 3.

If it was pixelated then it's Age 1-2, Age 2 featured a couple of units that had guns (Hand Cannoneer, Conquistador, Janissary) but not always used and not available to all civilizations.

Darn straight.
I like how educational the campaign is as well, sounds dumb but that's one of the best things about Age for me, it's very nice learning how exactly the things worked in a real life situation - I don't know much about the Library in Age2 (except that it's incredibly vast) but I think they would have something written for the armor / attack upgrades you could research at the Blacksmith.

Audio sounds for units in Age 2 was the best, no idea why - probably just nostalgic.

Range of Musketeer = 12
Range of Skirmisher = 18
Correct?
Skirmishers are the counter to Musketeers given their damage bonus against Infantry (it was against Heavy Infantry right? It may have been Light), that, and they have viable kiting methods.
Against a cannon though? I loved the destruction all around, very cool indeed.

'Wuv woo' in AoM spawned a flying hippopatomus. XD

Didn't it leave a trail of rainbow behind it as it flew? :P
"O CANADA" Spawned a lazer shooting bear with 2 monkeys and a canadian cape.
"Nova & Orion" gave you 10,000 exp on Age of Empires III.
"<censored>" gave you 10,000 wood on Age of Empires III.
"i r winner" let you win instantly in Age of Empires II.
"ya gotta make do with what ya got" gave you a "Mediocre Cannon" on Age of Empires III that shot animals.

Just a few, I can't remember all of them I'm afraid. :<

I was pwning, until the Heavy Cannon came. Once they started firing, it went to about 8 frames a minute, and I exited out. So I've owned AoE III since the day it came out, and I've only got 15 minutes of play time on it. D:

'Flying Dutchman' in RoR let you put ships on the land.

'Pandoras box' gave you random god powers in AoM.

'Wrath of the gods' gave you unlimted lightening strikes, meteor strikes, earth quakes, and tornados in AoM.

'All hail the monkey boy'(I think this is it) gave you a baby on a trike that shot guns in RoR.

'How do you turn this thing on?' gave you a Cobra in AoEII

'Tuck Tuck Tuck' gave you a MONSTER TRUCK in AoE III

'Wheres that axe?' gave you GEORGE CRUSHINGTON, a hopping bust of George Washington that crushed people. XD
