So I've owned AoE III since the day it came out, and I've only got 15 minutes of play time on it. D:

Wow :<

What annoyed me was playing Age II, wondering when 3 was out and then finding it on my dads shelf when he says "It's already out"....
Kind of annoying knowing it was out for a year and he had it just as long and only then knowing about it

Which reminds me of Armies of Exigo - in 2004 I found it and played it, had no idea how it worked (being too accustomed to Age 2) and exited out thinking it was awful...

2006 I decided to try it out again, for some reason I still couldn't come to terms with it and exited out... Again.

Last year I looked at it, saw the gameplay familiar to Warcraft III and watching Starcraft II games I've decided to give it a shot. You know what I did then?
Kicked myself for not falling in love with it sooner!

Gahhhh that was bad, and I love the game now, the aesthetic behind it is very nice, I've played World of Warcraft and the problem is I am simply too used to it, Armies of Exigo felt like this classical chanting in the church kind of Human, not the stubborn buggers in Warcraft

Think about it this way - Lord of the Rings, now a most generic movie ever, but was it when it came out? I really don't think so, and even if it were, it hit it spot on!
Armies of Exigo I view it as the same thing in a way.

'Tuck Tuck Tuck' gave you a MONSTER TRUCK in AoE III

Oh I remember just using that and laughing so hard The "Tommynator", there was a special way of placing an "Andy's Truck" or something like that which was a different skin of the Tommynator in the editor, you needed to press CTRL-N and find it somehow. I can't remember exactly.

'Pandoras box' gave you random god powers in AoM.
'Wrath of the gods' gave you unlimted lightening strikes, meteor strikes, earth quakes, and tornados in AoM.

Oh I remember them, they were very funny
Which reminds me, get on the editor and use them to reenact 2012 (even though you can only cast a single god power in a place at a time), then release it on "doomsday"

Whats even worse, is having it on your shelf... mocking you. D:

Not going to look Armies of Exigo up, because then I'm sure I will want it. And I have a crappy computer, and no money. So I will not look it up.

Spent the 6 hours I was offline playing AoEII.

Map: Rivers
Map Size: Giant
Allies: Noone/FFA
Civilization: Random (Britons)
Resource Start: Low
Difficulty: High
Starting Age: Standard
Lock Teams: No
All Tech: No

FUN! Hard, but fun. Only three players left, including myself. The Teutons accross from me, and my ally, the Persians. Persians were getting pwned by the teutons, but I just sent 20 Cavaliers and 20 Horse Back Archers to their place, with a trebuchet, and took them completey out in 5 minutes. My idea now is to completely wall in the Teotons, so they're stuck using the resources on their land.

...you guys rock.

And I personally think AOE II is much better than AOE III.

Now I know AOE IV hasn't been announced yet, but I am excited for it.

And I agree with others, I wish the conquerers expansion hadn't changed the music. I go back and play plain AOE II just for the music sometimes.

Beat a skirmish on hardest! W00t! Took me forever though. I've discovered that the computer begins to cheat and use resources it doesn't have after moderate. Makes me feel good.

I so hate that the computer can control all his ranged troops separately....like when it's a onager vs crossbowmen? They all MOVE! Hmph.

I liked AOE II better then III. III was very glitchy on my computers.

The best is when you are the Mongols and you upgrade everything for ranged units. Then I buy a bunch of Mangudai and they can kill anything before the enemy can attack.

raise your hands if you haven't played AoE. It was one of my 1st games (except for duke nukem and wolfenstein) so it was my 1st strategy game. i really love it. although i didn't like the land battles in 3 (dunno why) but the navy was awesomeness.

I own the entire AoE series, but must confess I like AoE I & AoE III the most. The graphics of AoE I are very warm coloured and make me happy. I practically learned all my english from AoE I too...
AoE III takes the player to an Era which is touched by very few games: the Colonial era. It did that in a very good way. I love AoE, and hope there is going to be a magnificent AoE IV!

Found my Conquerer's Expansion disk, so I've been playing that today. Forgot how much I enjoyed having 'smart' villagers and the unique techs. Spaniards and Huns are my favorite *new* civilization. Koreans are allright, but their neither of their unique units are very good: Turtle ship is just a Cannon Galleon for versing ships (rather than buildings), and the War Wagon is just a mobile Scoripion. I cannot stand the Aztec and Maya, simply because they don't have a stable. My style of gameplay to to have a good defense, then explode with a calvary attack. Probably why my favorite civilizations are the Franks and the Byzantines. Huns are good too, but they lack the defensive power of other civilizations.
