Simple yet complex? What is the American Dream that everyone is talking about? Having money? Having a big desk job where you're some CEO or some important dude? Being the president? Or is it having a job? being able to support your family? Escaping a warzone or some dangerous area? What is it?
Oh yea, back in the old days, America was a dream land (for money). Oil, monopolies, less regulations and easy business. But now, you seriously need to do some horrible things to become rich, or be lucky.
I very much doubt I will ever go to America, let alone for a dream. It sounds quite horrible with all the talk that goes around. Cheap(er) games and cheap(er) movies are about the only bonuses I can see going to America. (And visiting the theme parks )

It wasn't pretty back then, either. Easy business back then was flooded with crime.
Honestly, I don't know who came up with the whole 'American Dream' thing. As far as I know, I think all it refers to is the whole suburban lifestyle kinda thing. You know, Home ownership, a new car, two kids, a green lawn with a sprinkler and a job you commute to forth and back. I don't really know if I have an American dream, but I do know that I'm fine where I am.
"European dream, less bs, more progress, less America."
Government and politicians are the BS in the world, not any one country.
Without government, there would be no America and thus no "American Dream" (an illusion people reach for out of faith). Governments are created to provide a sense of peace and security, not wholly act as a tyrannical oligarchy.
