Sorry if it's in the wrong section, move it if you must.
I searched for topics like this, none showed up.

So, discuss. What is the point in living?
Personally, I don't think there is one, apart from to, well, die.

well actualy, i do not care about that either. i wont care if the world will end the day after i die. aslong i can live my life and have fun while it lasts.
so yea your purpose for life is a good purpose. but not evry1 thinks the same way. so you can't say that it is evry1's purpose or need.

I believe I clarified earlier that everyone has their own personal path to fulfillment. I was saying that if there was one purpose to life, from the viewpoint of life, it would be the continuation of life. Life. :P

I'm not sure what you mean by the second part, I'll just say that living beings don't have the responsability to reproduce. Of course if noone does, the species will go extinct. And since reproducing is an attribute of life, life wouldn't be possible without replication of any kind. But a species isn't alive, it either exists or is extinct. So not wanting to reproduce does not make an individual less alive.

Sorry for the double post, but that's what I was saying. From the standpoint of life as a whole, the purpose of life would be reproduction and the continuation of life, no?

If someone chooses not to reproduce, they aren't failing life or anything, they just don't fulfill the aforesaid purpose of life from the standpoint of life. That doesn't mean they can't have individual purpose

I wish Mr.Walker would get back. I've used this line of reasoning myself and he was able to throw a curve ball in it. Can't remember what it was though.

meh for me th real meaning of life is hapiness. it depends on every individual and not on the survival of the species and i dont think it has a point to do with the afterlife because well... its the afterlife XD (my opinion). in the end, we all look for hapiness. one wants to be famous, one wants to meet his true love and another person wants money. those are different things. we want things, and we want those things because they make us feel happy.

hapiness is actually the thing we all want and that we all try to get.

one can exist without hapiness but im sure that in his opinion his life would be meaningless.

in the end we all want to die happy and this is why i think hapiness is the meaning of life.

Some can be unhappy and live a meaningful life. Lots of singers, for example, were filled with pain (and drugs) and expressed their pain in song to give their lives purpose.

The meaning of life is to live. That's the reason all animals are so cautious and reactive. They aren't always content, but their will to live is immense.

usualy they get joy out of singing.
if they do not have joy in singing anymore they stop
(or keep going for the money like britney spears. but i guess you mean singers in general not only the famous)

yes and there are reasons they did that. teaching others and warning them of what could happen can make them happy. or gaining money from their songs. they had reasons to make their songs and those reasons made them happy.
