Inspired by "Ask A Muslim," I am creating this thread to answer any questions about Judaism. I will only answer questions about the religion, not why I believe in it, or how I can prove that it exists.
And they were not cruel. For example, and also to counteract my point about taking slaves, the Israelites were required to grant their slaves freedom after a period of years unless the slaves willingly chose to stay with their masters.
If the slaves where of the correct race...
Well how about we start off with the children killing? He killed the Egyptian first born, sent bears after kids for making fun of some guy, ordered a virgin sacrifice, and undoubtedly kills some in his other drunken rampages where adults are involved.
He also tortures Lot to win a bet, genocides the entire world, orders countless slaughters sometimes punishing the Isrialites for not killing everyone, killed Moses for tapping on a stone repeatedly, and many many more.

If you want to keep up on this negative line of questioning so be it. I did not intend for this thread to become one where people can list their rants about the Torah. If you want to do that, make your own thread. Call it, "Why God is Evil" or something along those lines. Also, God didn't kill Moses. God instead refused Moses entry into the land of Canaan.

Ahh yes my memory is slipping. Fine. He broke a promise to Mosses for tapping a rock multiple times. Is that better? Great. Since all those other deaths apparently meant nothing?

Alright. It seems clear to me that your only point of commenting on this thread is to mock Judaism as an evil religion. Again, if you would like to mock a religion, go do it somewhere else. Also, it was because Moses lost faith in God that God kept Moses from Canaan.

And he showed it by flickering the switch? Yawheh promised that he would be able to enter the holy land and lied. It doesn't mater why, he is omnipotent and should be able to see that coming.
Being respectful is part of every thread you encounter, 314d1. Please exercise that tradition. We are here to ask questions about Judaism that are unclear to others, not belittle specific text or the religion itself.
Uh... do you guys sell latkes or what? Cause that would be awesome.
If you have a deli nearby where you live, they might have them.
What do you guys think of other religions? Any specific stereotypes you have about Christians or Muslims and such?
We are normally tolerant of other religions. Only when do they try to destroy us do we get nasty. Also, we are not one of the religions that try to convert everyone we meet on the street. In fact, I think we are the only religion which gives reasons NOT to become our religion. Plus we turn away prospective converters twice, and only when they come back a third time do we accept them.

Even better, we sell falafels.

The Jews aren't all one person, they all have different opinions on people. It's not like it says anywhere we should have rational thoughts about a specific religion, most of the large ones weren't even around when the Torah was written. I'll assume that some Israelis might have developed some general hatred against most arab countries though.
Are Gentiles allowed to enter synagogues/temples? I ask because I know that non-Mormons are not allowed to enter Mormon temples(They are allowed to enter the churches but not the sacred temples), and kafirs are not allowed to enter the holy cities of Mecca and Medina, for example. What is the difference between the Torah, the Kabbalah, and the Talmud?
My dad's favourite hobby is studying religions, and I guess it rubbed off. >.>

Yep, Jews aren't allowed to persuade people to join the religion. In order for someone to join, they have to ask a Jew about it. That Jew must try three times to dissuade the person from joining, before he is allowed to join. He can use any reason to try to dissuade them, like telling the person the it's really difficult to keep all the commandments, or that you can't eat anymore of that delicious bacon.

Yes they are, but i don't think they can touch certain things. I know if they touch the wine, your no longer allowed to use it for religious ceremony.
Yes. In fact, I think that it is encouraged to invite the stranger into your homes and your temples. (By your I mean for Jews)
What is the difference between the Torah, the Kabbalah, and the Talmud?
The Torah is our main religious text and consists of the Five Books of Moses. Kabbalah is a mystic branch of Judaism, sort of a form of magic if you will. The Talmud is a collection of rabbinic philosophies and writings. Some famous quotes are "You can educate a fool, but you cannot make him think," and, âWhoever destroys a single life is as guilty as though he had destroyed the entire world; and whoever rescues a single life earns as much merit as though he had rescued the entire world.â

Wait. What was that bit about the magic book? Could you explain on that? Is it like some kind of spell book or something? Does it teach you how to do necromancy and witchery that where so present in the Torah but not in the real world?
