a war? They were clearing out the Japanese troops who didn't want to obey their nation's surrender.

No, it was just not very well thought out to assume that baseless ranting would get you anywhere.
There are so many different factors that lead to conflict, and you can't just point a finger and say "It was the USA LALALALALA" because that's not even looking at a small fraction of the causes for any war.
