sometimes in the "last post by" section next to a category in a thread it is a post that took place years ago and I don't even notice untill I post and the thread is locked. Has this happened to anyone else?
Oh yes, this has happened to many people. The solution is to simply not post there. If the forum's stat to the right says "years" or "months by", then you need to click on the forum name for the list of threads. There, you will see the real most-recent threads.
