I got bored and came up with this thought provoking question:

Would you kill someone you know (you can't kill yourself) to save the planet? Earth and it's inhabitants are doomed to die if you don't kill someone you know.

Someone who is significant to me or just someone I know?

Either way, I'd probably save the planet. If it's for a good cause, killing doesn't really bother me. When I say "good cause", I mean good for everyone, not just good for me.

Someone you know in general. I mean, you would have to know them well. It could be either a close family member or a co-worker you get along with.

It can't be someone you dislike, because that eliminates the point of the thread.

The way I see it, that person is going to either die by the planet being destroyed, or by me killing him. If it comes down to that, I figure it would be best to take that person out without bringing everyone else down with him.

Kind of the way I see it.

Granted, it would be tough to say,"Hey man, I've made my choice on who has to die to save the planet, you're it."

It's a him or me thing.

I'd kill him in the most brutal way possible, since it's likely him blowing us up.

i would die myself if i could save the planet. but because i can't choose myself i will be asking people that i know if they want to die to save the planet. if they agree whit that then i got no problem killing that person.

I myself would kill him too. Because the way I see it if one death will save millions it's best to make that death happen. Though I'd probably kill a friend rather than a family member if I can.

There's no point trying to save one person and let billions die. Plus like Ernie said the person would die either way.

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one - of course I'd do it to save the planet, preferably to someone who consented to it though.

I'd rather not kill anybody, but to not kill would be to kill billions. Regrettably, I say that I doubt I could muster the will to do it. I would want to, but I couldn't.

I would kill the one person too. I don't really have the guts to do it but if it's for the sake of billions of lives I'll get over it.

I wouldn't do a thing.
It wouldn't be fair for the guy who I may have been killed because he should just die with everyone else and enjoy his last moments.

I don't buy into that saying of 'The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few'. It isn't how I would go about doing anything, to go brutal assassin on someone.

Also, it isn't clearly outlined, the question I mean. If I had to pick someone, I'd probably find an extremely old person that I know, that would see themselves doing a good thing for the rest of humanity and not really losing much for it. After all, we're all set to die.

Sounds easy, kill one to safe Billions....but what if you where that one? If I was that one I wouldn't save any one of you.....If I have to die, so do you
