Basic chemical compounds came together to form self replicating molecules. I currently favor RNA first before DNA. There are a number of different models out there as to just how these chemicals came together. I don't believe there was any extraterrestrial involvement, the start of life on earth probably started with the first cell to form, not an alien dropping off a species on our planet. I think we have proof of the very early basic multicellular organism forming on earth, which means that they probably started forming here on their own, and didn't have the head start of an already developed organism. The only theory I have learnt about, about how the first cell possibly formed, was this.
really i have 2 theroys... he were seeded from martians... on an anempt to terraform the disant planet... well when the martian core slow down the magnet shpere weekened solar storm bombarded the planet... leaving the seeded earth left behind... and when we evetually terraform mars and earthbecomes to toxic to live on we wil just terra form earth and so one...

or the idea when a metorite impacted with planet earth protines combinded to make amino acids ( or reverse) then rna.... then dna... then basic cell structers from simple glicose bubbles... for simple cell walls

Mars didn't stay viable long enough for complex life to form, let alone sentient life. the best we could hope for from Mars would be simple bacteria.

It's possible that the planet got seeded with amino acids, but this would only help give a leg up to the "soup".
Here's my theory: A meteor crashed into earth when the earth was formed carrying amino acids which is the basic building blocks of life. Then after millions of years bacteria came. Then devolved animals like isopods came. Then dinosaurs. Then Australopithicus which was believed the first stage of human evolution and so on to the Homo Sapiens which is us.
