A weird ting happened to me recently while i was trying to fall asleep. What happened was I closed my eyes breifly and opened them agian and something caught the corner of my eye, when I looked straight at it, it was my swimming trunks and they were floating close to a chair, it was rigid also so I could see the whole front of it. When I tried to figure out why it was there it started to disintigrate and then was gone. I dunno what caused that to happen because I was definatly looking at it while not being asleep. My guess is that when I closed my eyes my subconsious mind turned on and when I opened them agian the two minds were still working so that was the dream fitting into what I was actualy seeing. Also that same night I closed my eyes agian and saw very bright flashes like lightning under my eyelids just before i fell asleep.
Did this ever happen to anyone?

I don't think you use alcohol, but if you have a withdraw you could be suffering from delirium tremens. I have had something like that were you see something in the corner of your eye. Although here comes the weird thing when I was a kid I had a dream about aliens coming to my house (I just saw Signs I think), but then the next day I started having hallucinations in the corner of my eye of aliens. I was so scare I was looking behind my back ever five minutes. I don't do that anymore though.

I see bright flashes happening all the time when I sleep or laze about with eyes closed. I attribute it to blood flow, and when light permeate my eyelids.

The phenomena is called phosphene.

quoteness: or those who are using psychedelic drugs.[5]

Oh, I was wondering why fighter23 said that thing about withdrawal o.O

(he might have been talking to the OP though)

Um thanks, I guess.

I think the name I was trying to remember in this thread is called "eye floaters".

I remember there being something about a slight photosensitive-ity though the eyelids. The eyes 'seeing' the surrounding area even when closed. A name for that somewhere. I think I saw it on discovery or history channel can't remember it though. uwah

Seeing an alien whenever you look behind you would be horrible for a kid xO

I've heard of that from my dad where he told me about a guy who was trying to swat flies that weren't actualy there and that scarred me so much I never take more than a sip of any alchohol just to try it.

Don't be turned off alcohol from one little story. Just drink in moderation.

Well, have you had any more strange experiences since this one?

A swim-trunk based illusion sounds a little obscure. There has to be something deep inside to cause an illusion this specific.

Spoken like a true Irish girl.

I'm guessing you were asleep or falling asleep when you experienced this strange anomaly. You say you closed your eyes "briefly", but often that can be enough time to fall into a light slumber.

I fell asleep on the couch once and woke up to see a giant black smoke thing (looked a bit like Krauss from Hellboy 2 without his suite) walking across my living room. It's interesting what the mind comes up with when your still partly asleep.

Once I woke up and I was dazed. I walked to the kitchen, took the trash can and almost peeded in it.

Anything can happen when your really sleepy.

No because I was looking at the clock when i closed my eyes.

Just the cat thing. And Sometimes when I'm walking around something will pop into my head like seeing a monster in the mirror, but it was just a flash and never this long.

I once walked into the bathroom and almost peed in the trash lol.
ever thought it was a prank

It couldn't be because it just desintigrated in thin air, and I dout you could really do that.
And for the cat, I was home alone with me and my real living cat at the time.

Haha I once had worse where I woke up and looked at a toy I had and it looked like it had an evil grin on it and looked really messed up, then I closed my eyes agian and he looked normal, then I found out if I looked at him in just the right way I could see it and when I didn't I just saw it as normal.
Well I was little and that freaked me out, so I thouroghly got rid of it.

You mean, something like sleepiness? I guess that is pretty normal, if for example you got in bed late the evening before, or had a hard day.
