Jarvan IV... Off-Tank Solo Top / Jungler. My build for Jarvan at Solo Top ^^ Regrowth Pendant + Health Potion > Philsopher's Stone > Heart of Gold > Mercury's Treads > Warmog's Armor > Atma's Impaler > Force of Nature > sell Heart of Gold, buy Frozen Mallet > sell Philosopher's Stone, buy either: Wit's End: If additional Magic Resist is needed. Frozen Heart: If additional Armor is needed.
When Wit's End was actually Quicksilver Sash, the stats were around: 4.3k HP 173 Armor 214 Magic Resist 213 Basic Attack 1.250 Attack Speed (not including Demacian Standard when it's out)
Now, in combat the Attack Speed is around 1.463, with attack damage being 255 (42 of that being Magic Damage from Wit's End). The Magic Resist only goes down by 4.
Frozen Heart provides all the necessary armor, with Cooldown and Attack Speed reduction. The CD Reduction is pivotal as Jarvan IV for his mobility and to maintain his Attack Speed / Armor bonus from Demacian Standard (which escalates his Armor to around 200 without Frozen Heart).
Not all stats are entirely accurate, but give you a rough idea. The build gives me longevity at the start, by the time I need to go back is when I have 1,190 gold. I call the jungler to take top for me temporarily, get my GP5 items and then come back where I can sustain myself for much longer.
I sustain my Mana mainly through Philo Stone and ManaPer5 Quintessences that scale with level... that's an additional 13 Mana Per 5 which accounts for 44.8% of my mana regen (in total being 29 Mana Per 5). This does not include the Philo Stone which maintains it at around that level before it is sold.
The Frozen Mallet essentially: Provides much more longevity (around 20% more when you think about it). Provides 34 attack damage. Provides a means to both run away more effectively (as a Jarvan IV with Flash and his Standard-Pull), that could save allies and chase enemies down with the slow.
It seemed like a good all-rounder, and the slow is essential against some enemies, it gives me the (accurate) idea that if someone flashes out of my Arena I can Flash-chase them and still stay on them. Especially with the Standard-Pull and Golden Aegis slow (which mounts up to 35% slow at end-level).
I level Dragon Strike first, then Demacian Standard, then Aegis.
Also, the Armor / Magic Resist is boasted by Red Runes which give 8+ flat Armor. 27 Armor and Magic Resist at level 18 Runes are there in Seals and Glyphs, respectively (Yellow and Blue runes, respectively).
I like playing League of Legends a lot. My computer has trouble keeping up with it, so I stopped playing it a while back. It seemed like a well-balanced game; it was really fun to level my character, only to have to start over again next game. With this I felt I could easily try out different strategies and play styles. One thing that aggravated me to no end was the fact that one player can essentially ruin an entire game. Also, it always seemed that I joined a party with inexperienced players, only to be teamed against people who actually know what they were doing. Even trying to talk to my group and tell them how to play didn't help!
The unique passives wont stack, so buying more than one Infinity's Edge would be a waste. It would be better to get one Infinity's Edge and a Bloodthirster or something else with at least a bit of lifesteal. Maybe an extra Phantom Dancer too, if you have money to spare, since attack speed = faster rage = more crits/survivability, and he's a melee so he could use the extra movement speed. And, of course, boots. You didn't mention them but I assume they're in there somewhere.
Anyways, I used to play a lot of AP Teemo (though I usually play more hybrid-ish on him now), but lately I've been playing a lot of tanky Garen. Occasionally, I like to play Katarina or Tryndamere as well.
The thing that makes the Infinity's Edge so great is the passive that increases crit damage done, but this wont stack if you buy several, so you're better off spending money on other weapons with equal or better stats.
Weapons with better to equal stats would include: 1) Another Phantom Dancer, will allow Fury buildup much faster, chasing opponents easier and pretty much guaranteeing a critical strike. 2) Bloodthirster, this provides more attack damage if you survive and kill enough things, with Lifesteal that greatly enhances longevity. Probably the most powerful weapon after the essentials have been gotten. 3) Wit's End, this allows a large amount of damage to be done that is Magical as well as a decent boost to your already high attack speed - this also has defensive benefits of providing a maximum of 50 Magic Resist in combat. Certainly not the strongest, but it's defensive capabilities in addition make it worth considering.
Still... it's difficult getting the money to do something like that. I would think my Jarvan build would counter it pretty well - especially with Frozen Heart. At the very least, you won't be able to kill me. At best, I can kill you. If I don't need to run away, I will likely only be able to chase you away (You'd have more speed, that outdoes my chasing capabilities).
xD I play Heroes of Newerth. lol But i'm not all anti LoL, its acronym is way to cool. I watch davidangel64 on jtv (I think it might be twitch tv now) so I understand LoL basics. I try to help teach any LoL (aka HoN newbs, no offense. :P ) players how to play HoN, the HoN community being what it is I try to make it a better learning enviornment. Now that HoN is free there are a lot more of you guys so the game is a bit more fun. (if your consience allows you to take pleasure in noob stomping...I feel bad now. lol nvm.)
@EpitomeofAwesome I never tried getting into HoN that much, the UI seemed so difficult to use and confusing... I do play LoL as you've probably seen however out of the two games I would pick LoL as it does appear to have a much easier-to-use and furthermore understandable UI. Plus the competitive scene is qucikly growing.
Never played this game before, but my friend keeps telling me to try it, which I probably will soon ;D
Do give it a go, and HoN as well. I've no doubt HoN is a good game, but I'm already level 30 on LoL with plenty of friends and as previously mentioned a UI I can easily understand, if you can get into HoN and look past the bad sides of the community (that is present in both games) then you should be alright
Its like one person leaves the whole team loses -_-
It's a MOBA game, team based and 5v5 format. Late-game situations in a 4v5 means you're significantly hindered. It's not just 20% because the fluidity that Champion brings (for instance my knockup or Galio's / Nunu's Ultimate) is an absolutely MASSIVE thing to keep in mind.
If someone leaves, yeah, you're gonna lose. It's team based so I would play with friends when I can, however in a normal situation people don't generally leave and it isn't nearly difficult owning as an off-tank with those statistics.
My favorite character was Garen. I really liked playing him and he was pretty simple to understand how to play--it only took me a few games to excel as his character. He isn't the most unique character, but he was really fun to play.
