Hello guys, my name is Emanuel. I would like to discuss about this on here, armorgames, because the community in here seems very mature.
Well, let's just start about me and school. Everytime i think on "SCHOOL" i can feel it like a torment, or the "Bad moment feeling" everytime i think on it. I don't get bullied, and i even got a good rep on school. I'm not sure why i'm worried. Maybe it is because when i wake up, i wake up tired. Maybe because i hate writing. Maybe because i just don't understand what's the Mathematics teacher saying. Yeah, i think that's what worrying me and making me lose hope on school. I get bored, i hate studying, and waking up everytime thinking about "oh man school again "

So, to get to the point quickly, do you think that they should stop giving us unnecessary stuff that you don't need for your future? I mean, why study History? why study.. art?
I question this everyday. I know that not everyone wants to study on the future the same thing (ie. Lawyer) but, seriously? History, art? That is completely unnecessary. I sometimes get depressed about the "Oh god school again" feeling. (Even though, i have gotten a social life thanks to school) People get bored looking at a green board/white board like for a whole hour. What if we started doing more interactive stuff while in class, rather than a teacher yelling around and making us write a 9000 page book?
I know job-less people that actually they are very intelligent around.
So the question is folks, why study?

I am 15 years old

I've never had to study (or even pay attention in class, really) in order to maintain high straight As, and that remains true for my 9th grade year right now, but I'm totally f**ked if I DO need to start studying because I have no study habits.

This kind of happened to me when I entered med school. All of a sudden I was like "wait, these exams actually require me to think about my answers."

Needless to say I really struggled for the first few years >_>

Don't want to sound like a *insert bad noun here* but I could. I don't see what peoples' problem is when it comes to concentrating for prolonged periods of time.

The internet happened. This whole multi-tabbed browser thing has a lot to answer for.

The take home message from this page, and it's a good one, is that learning subjects actually teaches you skills which serve as foundations for further development. That's the most important part, even moreso than the knowledge that you gained from the term.

If you're serious, then I should point out that it worked the complete opposite for me.

A new lesson has entered the Welsh curriculem called the Welsh Baccaleuruette.. or something like that. It was founded after many employees under survey found a lack of social or I.T skills in many colleagues and this basically targets self-development in those two areas. So I definitely know what you're talking about.

I don't think you should study if you really think that you don't need to study. Regardless, knowlegde is amazing. If you know stuff then you are more cultured, if you are more cultured then you get to stand out from the ordinary loser and you get to actually do something for this world.

9th Grade year?
Wait... explain please, because I'm hoping I misinterpreted.

9th grade in the American education system. Freshman year of high school.

Note that I said "all".

I would get bored after a while and my mind would wander off. I've always been very very fidgety, both physically and mentally (though that's certainly not a disability - I've never had any problems learning anything before, except tying my shoes and a few basic rules of social interaction).

This kind of happened to me when I entered med school. All of a sudden I was like "wait, these exams actually require me to think about my answers."

Yikes/oooh, neat. I've never really had to put much thought into anything, and I'm hoping that'll change a bit eventually, though high school certainly hasn't been throwing anything extra at me yet . . . .

In my mind history and art are important, because it gives you more knowledge on things, and I use that knowledge everyday in my life surprisingly.
I know exactly where you're coming from, my attitude towards school makes you look like you love it. Just trust me, you'll appreciate it one day.

When I was little I used to think of every reason not to go to school and exploit it, but every year I am in school, I don't mind it as much, and now I actualy like it, I think one thing that helped me alot was to understand why I am learning this stuff, also in my old schools everything was so easy that I stoped caring or trying.

It's one thing to pay attention in class, entirely another to not study at home. I rarely study at home, and when I do it's for high level science classes.

However paying attention in class isn't all that hard, if you're sitting there for [45- 90] minutes you might as well listen to what the teacher is saying.

Okay, Emanuel.
Imagine this:
You don't go to school, at all. The only things you pick up on is things you do/see/hear around your home, when you're out, etc.
You want a job, what then? All the job's are being given away to people who actually went to school, made something of themselves.
School will teach you a great many things, as well as general knowledge, you'll learn things such as social skills, teamwork and leadership and many other things.
You'll miss school when you leave, guaranteed, do your best.
It'll be worth it, you're in the prime of your life, make the most of it.
