Less than a week now until the release of Coldplay's fifth studio album, ''Mylo Xyloto''.
Thoughts? Apprehension? Anticipation?
Personnaly, I can't wait. Though not the Coldplay I held so dearly in my heart, the upward, new wave sound looks very interesting, especially in tracks where the cascading music powers Chris's voice, i.e. Paradise.
It does sound a little "oppy" but most of the songs are pretty nice and have the Coldplay 1000 liberty bells ring. Thaboss is kind of sad that Moving to Mars isn't in the album, it's such a good song.
I just listened to the album the other day and i have to say it is probably my favorite from them yet. deffinatly a good album to jot down on their resume and just adding to their legacy
I wasn't really a fan of them until their music started playing at my job. then they sort of grew on me, which I appreciate. I think they're new stuff is pretty good, I'm excited to sit down and listen to their music from the beginning though. any songs in particular that I should listen to several times or anything like that?
Mylo Xyloto serves as a sort of introduction for Hurts Like Heaven. If you listen to them back-to-back, they actually flow together into one song.
MMIX serves to further the shock of going from a peaceful, restful tune to the harder acoustic sound of Major Minus. It really serves to place further emphasis on the first lines: 'I've got one eye watching you, one eye on what you do, so be careful who it is you're talking to.'
'A Hopeful Transmission' is exactly that. Its a more uplifting beat to go between to relatively sad songs: 'Up In Flames' and 'Don't Let It Break Your Heart'.

No, no, NO! MMIX is an intro to ETIAW!! People can even hear the beginning part the "duuuh" at the end of MMIX. The reason for the confusion, thaboss thinks, is because somebody bought ETIAW on the EP on itunes and then bought the album, got the discounted price, but it doesn't transfer the song to the album. Have to do that manually. (Thaboss knows how, just ask him.) The whole album seems to kind of flow together. Listen to Don't Let It Break Your Heart and then Up With the Birds. At the end of DLIBYH, the "duuuuh" starts and stays for like 10 seconds and then UWTB starts and has the exact same sound in the background.
Yeah, but on the album the order of the tracks is:
Charlie Brown Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall Us Against the World MMIX Major Minus
So MMIX can't be an intro to ETIAM, because it appears after the song its supposed to be introducing. When I preordered the album, I got the Paradise single for free, so my songs go:
Paradise - Single Mylo Xyloto - Mylo Xyloto Hurts Like Heaven -Mylo Xyloto Paradise - Mylo Xyloto
So the fact I already had the song didn't change anything for me. Dunno why it would be any different.
I don't know where THAT came from... When I got ETIAW and Paradise, they didn't show up on the album, probably because I bought the single not preordered the album... And neither did ETIAW. And on coldplay.com, the tracklisting goes:
Tracklisting: Mylo Xyloto Hurts Like Heaven Paradise Charlie Brown Us Against The World M.M.I.X. Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall Major Minus U.F.O. Princess of China Up In Flames A Hopeful Transmission Don't Let It Break Your Heart Up With The Birds
Guess my iTunes freaked or something. Because that (was) the order that there in. Re-downloaded the album, and they appeared in the correct order this time.
