I'm pretty sure a lot of people one way or another heard about the remarks made by Susan Sarandon. Do you think that the ABL is correct in saying that she owes the Catholic community an apology. Also what are your beliefs on Pope Benedict being apart of the Hitler Youth Program. Please don't spam.

I looked it up and apparently he was forced to as a child and refused to attend the mettings. So I would not say that she was right in saying that, but I don't think she nneds to apoligize. Shes already getting enough hate from people. Enough has been to her.

You have to realize that he would've been sent to a concentration camp if he didn't join the youth group. Honestly, what she said is racist. You'd have to know the Pope before accusing him of being a Nazi. I don't know the Pope, and I'm not saying he's the Second Coming or something like that. I'm just saying he's the Pope.

for me, the pope could be a flying ferret who likes to spit at things, I still wouldn't comment on it. the reason why is because the moment you do, you basically summon every catholic within 20feet to do you bodily harm until you are a bloody pulp.

in short: to mess with the pope is to end up in a shallow grave.

I think that people should be allowed to say whatever they want to.

I think it's unfair to judge people for joining the Hitler Youth, as it was either that or be sent to a concentration camp.

That's a massive exaggeration...

Do you really think that the obsessive followers will stand idle while their leader is slandered?

No, but do you think a vast majority of Catholics are that obessesed as you termed it? Seems to me that the secular trappings of a State, i.e laws against assault and battery overide such rash actions and thoughts.

Also take into account that Catholics might dislike their own Pope; after all they ultimately pray to God and not owe allegiance to the Supreme Pontiff.

No, and I didn't say they were all obsessed, nor did I say the majority was. But there are some crazy ones who would do something to retaliate.

There are some who would. But I'm catholic and I wouldn't.

Random person: "well, I don't compleatly love the pope but..."
Me: "WHAT!? CATHOLICS! ASSEMBLE!"
Random person: "Aaaaahhhhh!!!!"

exactly, thats why I wouldn't do that, but i digress.

The pope, like many religious/cultural leaders, has a following. what the following does in the popes name could differ wildly. some might kill for him, some might die for him, and some would be really ambivalent. the question is, which one would you be around when you mess with the pope?

it's like messing with texas, if you do you get a boot up your but.

The title of this thread just makes me laugh.

Short answer: No.

Long answer: Even if someone is forced to do something that does not mean that it was their choice or their belief that it was right.

Nope, that's not right. You also weren't sent to a concentration camp just because you weren't a member of the NSDAP.

Anyway, no, I don't think he's a Nazi.

Keep in mind that this was during a time when the German population supported the Nazis. To him, it was probably no stranger than joining the boy scouts, and to him, the Nazis were good guys. I don't know how old he was when he was with them, but if he was young, then it's likely he did not really understand the consequences of his or the Nazis' actions, which makes it even more understandable that he didn't think they were evil.

Also, keep in mind that even some grown-ups remained oblivious to most of the atrocities the Nazi forces committed.

I didn't mean that he is a Nazi on his free choice, I was trying to say that should he be considered a Nazi, Obviously from what his standings are in the Catholic Church he does not openly believe that way, I'm trying to say maybe he actually is a Nazi but is just not open about it.

if the pope is a closet nazi, that would mean the pope is not a holy man. this would mean that the catholic church is currently in some form of corruption. if it is corrupted, then the people who are catholic are sheep, and if they are sheep, then they would only be good for meat and wool. if this is the case, then the catholics must be eliminated.

more likely, he isn't one and the above paragraph is completely useless.

It was, and I think still is a little.

I don't really think so. The american government is corrupted. But just because I'm not totally against it doesn't make me a sheep.

and if they are sheep, then they would only be good for meat and wool. if this is the case, then the catholics must be eliminated.

>.> I have to admit. I'm catholic, and I found that last part a little funny. Whats wrong with me?!

But anyways, I think the pope is not a nazi. He just grew up that way and probably regrets it. Like regular people in america would.
