Lil Wayne is the most over rated "rapper" of all time. He can't touch the talent of Dr. Dre. oh and eminem is in my tope five. Don't forget without Dre, rap would almost be non excistent.

eh, dre didnt wasnt reall THAT early. although he was a pretty big par toff the 90's gangsta rap wave with such people as ice cube, ice tea, snoop dogg and such.

You're totally right. Dre had a huge influence on the west coast in the early 90's though but neither he nor Biggie are old school. Don't forget the true pioneers like DJ Kool Herc and Grand Wizard Theodore.
Rapper's Delight by Sugarhill Gang was the first succesful rap record. In the early 80's second wave groups like Run-D.M.C. made rap worldwide and ended old school.
Id say another few rappers that dont get any attention from critics are the guys from atmosphere and eyedea and abillities. those rappers have written some of the most beautiful words ever and are possibly the greatest lyricist of the modern day.
