"Dig in!" Richthofen calls in German. "Create a circle of defense." He proceeds to follow his own advice using the nearest trench shovel.
How many troops are there? 17, including Rich and the sarge?

15+5+the sergeant

the total armor consists of 1 Tiger, 3 MG-42s on the halftracks and a .50 cal MG on the M3

you have trench shovels and some solid timber (don't question it or you won't have it)

How big is the plateau we're supposed to defend, and how high up is it as compared to the surrounding area?
Can I get a breakdown of what the 20 soldiers I have specialize in(sniper, MG, etc.)? And what's the sarge good at?

Isn't it 1941ish?

Tak's squad vigorously begins digging an MG nest.

big enough and tall enough to be used as a artillery observing post compared to the rather flat or gentle hills beyond. but it's also a gentle slope of a climb, with some small depressions and tall grasses, bushes and a few large rocks

well you know your 15

Name: Karl von Richthofen.
Age: 21.
Gender: Male.
Class: Fallschirmjager Assault.
Nationality: German[Axis].
Personality: Disciplined but compassionate; loyal to God before country; intelligent but courageous.
Phy.Desc.: Tall, muscular, Caucasian, blonde hair, blue eyes.
Traits: jeebus save meh!: you get the occasional life saver, from teh OP god himselves, call me Cheesus
Bio: He was raised in a very wealthy, prominent German family in Frankfurt am Main. His family was very religious, and strict discipline and morals were instilled in him from a young age, as well as extreme patriotism. Almost fanatically loyal, Richthofen joined at the beginning of the war, having been fooled by the recruitment propaganda and under the belief that the war was a good place and that he was serving Germany. When he first saw a concentration camp, however, he learned quickly that was not the case. Instead of deserting, which would've gotten him killed and been very dishonorable, Richthofen instead decided to continue serving Germany, but will defer to the Geneva Convention as well.
Perk: Multilingual.

And the sergeant in pure stat speaking has a high accuracy and morale, can raise morale and rate of fire of anyone around him. also he's an all around bad ***. the real down to him is the fact that he is slow to move (the leg injury gave him a limp)

That won't be a problem. We're defending a fixed position, not blitzkrieg attacking a target.

Me needs actual numbers. What's the perimeter of the plateau? Is it like a rectangle or square?

Out of curiosity, have ya'll learned about parabolas, the quadratic formula, and factoring yet? I just want to see what the nerdnorm is. xD

i'm bad with numbers, uh, lets go with...uhm....let's say the size of the auditorium at your school >_>

also it's rounded, getting steeper the farther behind you it goes

Parabola= y=x2
Quadratic formula x= [-b +- (square root of) b2 -4ac] divided by 2a
factoring is easy: x2-7x+12 = (x-4) (x-3)

I have no idea how big the auditorium is, but all right.
So...let's just say that errbody pitches in and digs a single circular trench around the entire perimeter of the plateau. The trench in question is about 3.5 feet deep and wide. Sandbags and dat timber is stacked directly in front of the trenches, bringing the total "safe zone" to about 4 or 5 feet. Slits for firing are cut into the timber and small gaps are left between the sandbags for the same purpose. In the center of the plateau the supplies such as food and water will be stored, along with the latrines(making sure to leave a safe distance between those two things). Wide gaps in the trench-and-sandbag perimeter will be left for the armor. Special pits will be dug for the tanks and half-tracks, deep enough so that only their gun will be visible. Sandbags will be stacked in front of this to protect the armor and the gunner. The area behind the vehicle will be angled slightly downward as a ramp, such that the armor will be able to get back out without fear of getting stuck, while the rest will be left steep to prevent an attack by a crazed enemy soldier who tries to hijack the vehicle or something. The tank will face the outside of the trench circle and plateau, while its back will face the inside of the circle, thus presenting to the enemies the heavy armor of the German tanks(this was the Panzer's strong suit). It will also be angled slightly downward again, this for ease of firing at the enemies, who are at a lower elevation than the plateau.

I'm thinking CI. They set up tents for the troops on the plateau, right?

Stack them on top of the tank so it has the same protection but more elevation clearance.

Why not use said timber for makeshift bunkers and strongpoints?

You have a fair point. What do you mean by strongpoints?
Also, I'm pretty sure they already have tents...Loco?

Widened, more spherical but smaller sections of trench with more sandbags/overall fortification for a fall-back position if part of the trench is overrun; extra supplies can also be stored here so soldiers can resupply without going too far.
Use the timber for poles to mount camo netting on, fill in the gaps with sandbags with firing slots and an opening facing outwards for an MG for the makeshift bunkers.
