I'd like to say that some of it is outdated. Because it is, people do not know the modern right from wrong. It be a bit of an issue, but because it was written a while ago, we've got to deal with. It isn't a major problem, however.
I personally think that an OP post should have more than, "Not my personal opinion but what do you think?"
On to the topic of the thread, yes, I believe it is outdated. Pretty much everything that religion claims can at the very least be shown to have no evidence for it. The morals in it are that of 2000 years ago and are considered barbaric nowadays. We know that just because we do not currently have an answer to something does not mean it is the work of demons, witches, warlocks, or a supernatural being such as god.

I would agree some but not all what religion tells us is barbaric. If you take much of the new testament liberally, you will find it teaches us a lot about forgiveness and respect for one another.

Yes, but that's not something explicit to religions. If you take what can be explicitely attributed to religions, I would say yes, of course it's outdated. We don't need it anymore to tell people to be nice to each other.
Agreed but religion can give someone meaning in life, the ultimate goal of paradise. It is that same concept that being nice gets you rewards that gave birth to the idea of kindness. That said, even without religion people will still have realised that being kind is like a boomerang, it will come back at you.
The hope for paradise is only for certain religions, keep in mind. Some religions just believe in reincarnation, not that the world will be made into the ultimate utopia. Some of the customs are certainly outdated for today's culture, but some religions take steps to make rules more liberal and modern.
no way islam has many ways of dealing with the modern problems
there r many hadiths (what prophet mohammed use to say) that were said about our issues like people having sex every were, half naked dancing women, people arguing about whether there religion is right or wrong and lots of other stuff.
if u want proof, type nativedeen on youtube and u will c. try my Favorite songs (small deeds) and (my faith my voice)
It all depends what religion you are talking about.
Christianity, I believe is very outdated.
Buddhism, It can't become outdated, as the Buddha said, everything is just energy of one situation creating a second situation, and as we all know, energy can not be destroyed and is eternal.
Islam, I don't really know much of it, but considering my current knowledge of it, I think it's fairly outdated. Mostly because of the fact they kill women if skin is exposed etc.
Personally, I feel that it is partially outdated; the explanations of natural phenomenon given in the Bible are clearly archaic and outdated.
On the other hand religion still gives us moral guidance in life; the age old virtues and morals of kindness, respect and love for example have surely not gone down the drain as well.
Mostly because of the fact they kill women if skin is exposed etc.
huh? who ever said that was part of islam? dood if ur not sure about something jst dont type it
Sens, that's an outright lie. Even Sharia Law isn't that strict.
Babiker, Iran has moral squads deployed to monitor ''inappropriate'' behaviour such as hand holding and wearing revealing clothes. They act as street thugs, beating people up.
most of iran are shia, a weird Muslim group that thinkthere connected ti islam but there not. they do some extremely weird things and have there own ways.

Can you be less biased and more objective? Just because the Muslim community split into both Shia and Sunni camps does not mean they are unIslamic in any way. They use the Quran and still pray to the Prophet. Pretty Muslim to me.

hard to say they represent islam
how very ignorant of you. i am shia my friend and i am very liberal trust me like sunni extremists in saudi there are shia extremists in iran. dosent make all of us extreme. the only difference is tht we pray differently and we have the 12 imams. we dont force women to wear abaya ( look it up on google) or the veil. neither do we kill them if they reveal their skin. its the womens choice because allah will punish and reward them for all their deeds. its like i prayer police in saudi.
