I don't think Obama is gonna be able to pull ahead of McCain in the end. I do see Clinton's delegates turning twards McCain, and not supporting Obama.

So my guess is yes Obama will win the Democratic nomination, but no .. he will not win the Presidency.

Well, If you read the papers, as of today Obama needs only 70 more Superdelagetes, where as Clinton needs over 200. So the outlook is good for Obama. Of course, some extremely unexpected things can happen in politics.

Now, if you meant "Will Barrack Obama beat John McCain in the presidential election?" that will be quite hard to know. It really all depends on Clintons Delagates (If she loses) and whether they will be scornful towards Obama or listen to Clinton and support him. Either way, it's suspensful, and all we can do now is hope and follow the election. Unless you live in Peurto Rico, Kentucky or Montana ( I think), in which case you can vote.

In terms of the democratic race, it's a weird situation. Obama is leading in delegates and will probably win. But in opinion polls of Obama vs. McCain, McCain wins. When it comes to opinion polls for Clinton vs. McCain, Clinton wins. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opinion_polling_by_state_for_the_United_States_presidential_election%2C_2008#Predicted_results_.28using_latest_polling_when_available.29)

The reason why there are Super-Delegates is to have them strategically vote. If the Democrats want to retake the White House, they had better put Hillary on the ballot. In the primaries, Obama won typical Democratic states. But Clinton took a majority of the "swing states." This is why the super-delegates need to put Clinton on the ballot in November to kick out Republicans.

In any event, the only good candidate still out there is Ron Paul. McCain and Obama are terrible economically. Clinton is too smug and does not have any good thought-out ideas. She's just spewing out the platform of the party without any backing. Plus, I do not feel she could respond properly if there were a serious crisis (We don't need another Hurricane Katrina-like incident)! Ron Paul is the only politician who supports private business and social equality. He's getting my vote.

@thelistman - Mike Gravel would also be good for the economy.

@thelistman: I donated money to Ron Paul. I voted for him in the primaries. I don't agree with all his ideas, but I did think he would have made the best president. Unfortunately, political reality being what it is, he didn't make the cut. I hope his candidacy continues to work towards changing the Republican party against the neocon agenda.

I think it's almost certain that Obama will take the Democratic nomination. Hillary doesn't have the math on her side, and she's been hemorrhaging superdelegates for a month.

I wouldn't put too much faith in polls this far away from the general election. Polls 4 months ago gave Hillary a 80% chance of winning the Dem nomination, and now they give her a 5% chance. But, if you care for polls, I saw one today that gave Obama an eight point lead over McCain nationally.

I think once the media starts to really examine McCain, a lot of his policies and the skeletons in his closet will come out, and his support will melt away. I also think that Clinton supporters will come around to Obama just like McCain supporters went to Bush in 2000 and Tsongas supporters went to Clinton in 1992.

At this point is really unclear but it is currently lean Obama because he won Oregon, and she won Kentucky. But Oregon is really the only state that counts.

@ squidlidink

Dude the point of this forums is to share your opinion.

He is fully and 100% allowed to say who he thinks is going to win.

If he is not allowed to, that defeats the whole point of all of the forums.

We count! Yay! Also, Squidlidink has a point. Let's change the topic to "Do you think Obama will win? Why or why not?"

I can't stand Gavel. If he thinks he's a Libertarian, he is totally mistaken.

I'm pretty sure he is going to win the democratic nomination, though I'm unsure about if he will win the presidency. I am worried that the majority of the country (with the ability to vote) is still racist, or has racist roots (many of the older people 'grew up with it' and apparently that is an excuse) and for that reason alone, he will lose. I am very hopeful though, and I am going to vote for him! Or Clinton I suppose, but I am doubtful at this point that she will win. Either way, I think the economy has only one way to go from here ^^

Ubertuna, I think The Obama Campaign depends on who Obama chooses as Vice President. I think we all know he is going to win the Democratic nomination. We know he has little expierience. So, should he choose Hillary as VP, he will almost certainly win. He needs a popular person as VP, but also one who has a lot of expierience in polotics. Without a popular person, unless Hillary convinces her supporters to vote for Obama, McCain has the better chance.
