I absolutely cannot stand new music okay? There's only 10 songs out of the 534 songs I have that were recorded after 1980 (Jon Bonham's death).
I personally like the stuff that my parents grew up to, like Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Who, and the Rolling Stones; bands that came about during the British Invasion (1962-1964).
The Beatles were an obvious favorite by most people of the time.
The Who went on to have three of their greatest songs used as the theme songs for CSI, CSI Miami and CSI NY (Who Are You, Won't Get Fooled Again, and Baba O' Riley respectively).
Led Zeppelin was abruptly cut short with their drummer dying because he choked on his own vomit (no joke...) but they never really had a "bad" album (Presence was decent, but still good).
The Rolling Stones always had this little thing of awesomeness, whether it was Mick Jagger's vocal skills, Keith Richards' guitar skills, or just the overall greatness of the band.
Pink Floyd was incredible, even during the days when Syd Barrett was still in the band. They really launched into the spotlight with Dark Side Of The Moon and Wish You Were Here (the album, not just the song), and I'll always remember them, especially because of the late Richard Wright's synth skills that seemed to be present in every song they wrote, and never at a bad time.

I could go on for a long time about my favorite bands, but to save you guys the reading, I'll stop here for now.

the 70's were one of my favorite years. although i dont think it was the "best" era for music.

the reason why people say it was the golden age for music was because it was then becoming something truely serious. it was the era between the mid 50's to the late 70's that truely changed how people viewed music. but honestly i prefer modern music.

and not to sound mean but you 534 songs, you cant really say much, or have a lot of an oppinion. not that you dont know what youre talking about, but you most likely cant.

i have over 6000 songs in my library and youd be suprised how much modern stuff sounds like the 60's-70's. even today those eras still hold heavy influence.

there is no i could show you EVERY song in my library and you not like atleast some of it.

I agree with you I love Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. The Beatles are also growing on me. My favorite song by Pink Floyd would probably be Pigs on the album Animals. My favorite song by Led Zeppelin would be Going to California on Led Zeppelin IV. I really liked the lyrics in that song. I really don't have a favorite song by the Beatles.

You can't exactly say it was the best, but it was, in my opinion, a great time for music, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, all the bands you mentioned are great. I like the 1960's and 1970's, sure, but I prefer Weird Al, Sublime and Irish Rock (With some Radiohead).
Just my opinion.

i simply like all music. but i have to agree during the 60's and 70's atlot more great artists where around. today the great artists are singing on the street and what you see on tv and radio are the lucky people from i-net that actualy can't sing or have any sense for music.
(beside some ofcours, true talents always make it to the top)

Well I would also like to add this to what I said, I also like modern bands like Radiohead and Green Day. I liked Radiohead's earlier albums though.

I hear this a few times. I'm not sure why people think the 60's and 70's were best in the music age (all these bands listed are from Rock, so I'm assuming we're talking Rock). Just remember that, while there were a few bands that were big hits and are popular just by name alone, there were also many more bands that were just plain awful in their profession and sunk into the abyss of forgotten music. Every decade or so of music spawns wonder bands. People believe the 60s and 70s were great years for listening to Rock, just on my theory that they were there first and thus had first dibs on music style and lyrics. Even then, you have talented artists from the future that can even butt heads with the talent of past artists.

I personally don't think they were the best, although they spawned some of my favorite bands, such as Pink Floid, Led Zepplin, The Who, and The Rolling Stones. Although these artists were great, there were many other bands that people forget that were just horrible. Not the best, but very good.
