So I was surfing the net and one of my searches was ''Cenere'' (No questions), and it happened to be the name of a silent film, which got me reading up on them. Seems like they were pretty big and artsy in the 1920s. My question is, has anyone here seen a silent film? Are they any good? Any modern adaptations?
The one thing I really like about old silents is that they could be made in any nation, but the humor and plot were international because there was no language barrier.
No, I have never seen a silent film, but I definitely appreciate them. I actually create analogue "movies" of 144 frames on 35mm film using my handy LomoKino. The faster you crank the hand wheel, the faster the frame rate, making the movie smoother. Here's an example: Credit to Lomography.

ive seen several. and the story can be very good sometimes but the filming and acting were very new back then and it looks very amateuristic. but back then that didn't care people were amazed enoufg by the "magic moving pictues box"
i usely like the movies a bit later then silent movies (still black/white) beter. like "metropolis" (might be silent tho been a while since i saw. (if it is silent it's the best silent film i know of.), "dracula" (the origenal) or "angels with dirty faces"(a mafia movie from the chicago mafia time. wich during that time people didn't dare to go watch in the cinema scared of the mafia =P) and the best is probably "citizen kane". it's a truely must watch movie because of the great story. it might just be the best pre-ww2 movie)

i think i should add that this was not the 1st big mafia movie. but this movie came so close to reality that the mafia became angry about it. it's a good deal of history.
He tried to prevent it from being released at all.
lucky it didn't happen it would have been a shame.
Not even this?
yay never expected this from him. (also ive never realy seeked for him)
I've seen lots of Charlie Chaplin,s silent films and my favorite would probably be The Gold Rush. It does have narration though. I also like a a lot of his short films.
I've seen a lot of silent films, my brother really liked them. My favorite is probably Nosferatu. Its a classic, it marks the birth of the horror genre.
