I recently learned of a pokemon called MissingNo, or missing number. In a way, it is from a whole other universe of the pokemon games, and can only be found in versions Yellow, Red, and Blue.

Q. What is MissingNo?
A. I'm glad you asked! MissingNo is a pokemon that exists outside of the Pokedex. No one has ever caught it, ever. So, nobody knows what type it is. Although, it is possible to see it, and to "battle" it. I say "battle" because, well, that will be explained later.

Q. How/why does it exist?
A. Well, this may take sometime to explain, so bear with me here...
You know how in Lavender Town the Marowak was murdered by Team Rocket, leaving only the Cubone? So the Marowak was the Cubone's mother. Well, observe Marowak. Now think of Kangaskahn(if I spelled that right). They look kinda similar, dont they? Originally Marowak could evolve into Kangaskahn, before the game was released. But the guys at Nintendo cut the idea one month before the game was sold to the public. They edited the evolution out, but there was a problem. MissingNo was somehow created by the cut in evolution.

Q. How do I find MissingNo, and what will it look like?
A. MissingNo appears to be a large jumble of pixels in the game, and it's level appears as 99999999... and so on. It's cry is said to be a combination of every other pokemon's cry. If you use a move on it, or a pokeball for instance, the game will freeze. To find it, follow these steps...

1. Go to Viridian City, talk to the "Old Man" who caught the Weedle at the beginning of the game, the tutorial person. Watch the tutorial. You can only do this step after you beat the Champion. This is a key step, because the creators expected you to never go to him again so late in the game.

2. Fly to Cinnabar Island. Walk towards the gym. Once you get to the coastline, use surf. In the water, you will battle MissingNo.

I really wonder who the hell figured out how to spawn MissingNo.
I don't know if this was released by the creators/found by accident, but finding this is kind of unlikely.

Good times though, i remember catching all the Lv100 Pokemons that came along with this glitch!

OMG this brings back so many old memories! I absolutely loved pokemon red and blue! What I remember very vividly was MIssingNo's cry when you battled him! ABSOLUTELY SILENT!

Yes you can catch the MissingNo, check your info:

Missingno. is safe to capture. It does not pose a threat to your save file, despite what you may read elsewhere. The worst Missingno. does is corrupt your Hall of Fame data and cause some graphical distortions in the battle screen. Your Hall of Fame cannot be fixed, but the graphical errors can be remedied by looking at the stats of a legitimate Pokemon.
