Everyone here knows that if you don't follow the rules, then you will get a temporary ban. I think that sounds a little mean, so I think it should be called a temporarily disabled account.
A removal from the site is still a removal from the site. I think it's silly how we would have to sugar coat the action for those that decided not to adhere to the relatively simple rules laid out for them. It's not going to jail...it's being temporarily removed from society. A clubhouse with big iron bars next to questionable people with questionable motives.
Technically the account is not disabled. The account is still there, people can still comment on it, the posts and ratings still show... You just can't log on. So, you have been temporarily banned. Not disabled, banned. I do like "Temporarily grounded" though.
So, as the entire userbase gets permabanned (considering temp bans already done, the game comment spammers...), the staff sits back for a moment, before they have to go warn themselves for their early days as well.
Some temp bans work as warnings in themselves, because the user hasn't checked their profile or to stop spamming that is currently going on. Not to mention it is pretty much like capital punishment for littering.
Either way, before this continues with more of this type of discussion (No, we won't permaban stupid people. They are technically not breaking the rules), let's just say that there is a reason for the name and there is a reason for why there are temporary bans.
(One is that it is an internet word, the other is that otherwise there is no fun any more at all, and that would be bad).
