I hate cyber men and daleks (not you Daleks) they will never ever die and that makes me sort of angry. Please if you post about this post don't tell me any spoilers.
You're joking right? You'd miss both Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker, arguably two of the most interesting Doctors there have been.
If Chris Eccleston had stayed in the role for much longer and not been replaced by Tennant, it's doubtful Doctor Who would have carried on. Eccleston was a truly aweful Doctor (but then he's a truly aweful actor full stop)
He was far too serious to be Doctor Who, the role needs a bit more character than he could give it and besides which, Eccleston admitted himself that he didn't enjoy the role. One of the reasons he quit after one season.
Admittedly I didn't like Tennant when he first started as the Doctor, but he kind of grows on you as he got more comfortable with the role.
I guess the Doctor that appeals is the Doctor you relate to or grew up with and for me that would be Jon Pertwee (but I liked him more for Worzel Gummage) and Tom Baker. Tom Baker is who I think of when I think of Doctor Who, he was the best in my opinion.

And Chis was good. I agree that he was not the best Doctor but he played the part well. His Doctor was supposed to be serious because he had just come out of the time war. Just because his character was more serious does not make Chis a bad actor.
Tom Baker is usually considered one of the best Doctors and I agree he is good.
There was a certain novelty to action hero Doctor. As for that comment about Daleks and Cybermen, if you go by cannon, Daleks can't actually die because they're in a time lock, it's impossible to kill them. The cybermen, exist in all times, and the Doctor never destroys entire species.
Did Eccleston really say that he didn't in enjoy the role of the Doctor?
Initially he blamed his departure on exhaustion, but later in an interview with the BBC, he revealed the real reasons:

Just because his character was more serious does not make Chis a bad actor.
I agree that just because he made an awful Doctor Who doesn't make him a bad actor, but his performance as the bad guy in "Gone in Sixty Seconds", coupled with a dire display in "Shallow Grave" and a side helping of virtually ruining the TV series "Cracker" does make him a bad actor.
If he were any more wooden he'd be attached to strings and given to Geppetto for restoration.

Misunderstood, I thought you were recommending people not watch any Doctor Who before series 9.
Even if Eccleston didn't like the part he gets cred for staying for one season and not telling the writers im leaving now you need to work a regeneration in.
