Hi guys,

can you give me some examples for good, new strategy games ?
until now i've played the "age of" games but the look of them isn't so good because they are so old ...
but i haven't found a better or compareable gameplay (expected of wc or sc, but they are also not so new ...) until now or maybe something completely different that is also fun to play,
so i hope that you can help me ;D

Good new strategy?

Are you kidding?

[opinion]If you like strategies, you don't need "omg100500 pixel shaders, directx15d and 10m polygons per model"[/opinion]

I didn't heard about any breakthrough on this field.

More or less new games:
Starcraft 2(I saw it, but didn't liked).
Heros of Might and Magic 6 (still worse than 3).
Disciples 3(God, Y U let this exist)

Games, which I loved:
UFO:Aftermath, Afterlife.

Earth 2150 (it's amazing. Really)

Galactic Civilization II

Civilization I,II,IV

C&C: Red Alert (Sniff. Tanya. I miss you)

Transport Tycoon. (Now you can download it's reincarnation - OpenTTD)

HOMM3. With addon WoG can be tweaked very deep.

Gene wars (Old. But gameplay... You play as team of biologists, which compete with other teams in repopulation of destroyed planetary ecosystems. Your helpers - genetically constructed monsters. You can breed them, make Mulecrabs, Flying crabs...)
Fragile allegiance(old. You are director of mining company. Your company mine asteroids. These asteroids also mine other races. Good diplomacy, nice war system(Example - you want to get rid of enemy asteroid. You can - send agent with virus, which will kill population on it, send a rocket, which will destroy most of buildings and add fatal level of radiation, or rocket, which destroy asteroids, or war fleet, which will EXTERMINATe all, or perform "accidental" collision of asteroids, which will be fatal for both of them)

UFO:Enemy unknown(very old. Need dosbox)

New? Sorry man, but PCs are down on the game industry market as consoles are sadly taking over. This limits the amount PC exclusives are made, and that usually includes RTS as you can't play them effectively with a controller (unless it's like Halo Wars).

until now i've played the "age of" games but the look of them isn't so good because they are so old ...

Mini-lecture:

Starcraft 1 is a 12 year old (about) eSport in Seoul, Korea, that is as highly valued there as Football and genuine physical sports are valued here. To be a professional Starcraft 1 player you generally needed around 300 APM (actions per minute -- 300 divided by 60 = 5 actions... a second) with manual controls for things you likely take for granted (remember setting a rally point on gold in Age of Empires II? You had to spawn a harvester in Starcraft 1 and then right click the thing, there was no other choice) spicing up the amount of required speed by a significant margin.

Oh, and, well, this is what it looks like (if I do this right):
starcraft01.jpg&w=640&h=480&ei=5aEQT6ioFYL_8gP1tcDfAw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=893&vpy=145&dur=1156&hovh=194&hovw=259&tx=185&ty=108&sig=109363682938967768254&amp<i class=age=1&tbnh=129&tbnw=169&start=0&ndsp=24&ved=1t:429,r:4,s:0&biw=1333&bih=753" alt="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=Starcraft+1&hl=en&safe=active&gbv=2&tbm=isch&tbnid=SnNYJcr_rxx2tM:&imgrefurl=http://procrastinationamplification.com/flashback-starcraft/&docid=m9SVhOZWzignLM&imgurl=http://procrastinationamplification.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/starcraft01.jpg&w=640&h=480&ei=5aEQT6ioFYL_8gP1tcDfAw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=893&vpy=145&dur=1156&hovh=194&hovw=259&tx=185&ty=108&sig=109363682938967768254&ampage=1&tbnh=129&tbnw=169&start=0&ndsp=24&ved=1t:429,r:4,s:0&biw=1333&bih=753" />

... I bought this and its expansion for £7.50 less than a week ago.
Best deal I've ever gotten.

Gameplay > Graphics, and the controls aren't actually that bad either.

but i haven't found a better or compareable gameplay (expected of wc or sc, but they are also not so new ...)

Warcraft III, Age of Empires III, Starcraft II -- all have sufficiently cool graphics and moreso good enough gameplay for their money. Hell, you can buy AoE3 and its two expansions for £30 on Steam, and it was on sale (50% off) not that long ago...

Believe me, you're getting more than enough.

There really isn't much to say aside for what Gremlion nicely posted... although I would recommend if anything Command and Conquer: Generals and it's expansion (Zero Hour).

Good luck broski, but still... Starcraft is so awesome. ^^

One second... I am very unfamiliar with how to make images on this... shocking for someone who's been here for two years (and could've really used it)...

The latest C&Cs are known for being pretty poor, so I wouldn't recommend, purely from other peoples' opinions (that I won't vouch for), because there's no point in taking the chance.

However! Command and Conquer: Generals 2 has been announced and you may be pleased to hear... or rather not, that it's due release in 2013! :P

If you want a good series that focuses on diplomacy, warfare and trade more than agriculture, than definitely go for the Total War series. Medieval Total War II, Rome Total War are classics you can't go wrong with. I personally feel that Empire Total War was a disappointment, too few provinces.

But if you want a massive historical game, go for Europa Universilis III. One hundred nations at least, 400 years, and great fun.

^I agree with nichodemus

Europa Universalis 3 is probally the greatest stragety game. The Divine Wind additions pack for it is great, played as England and conquered the whole world :3

I loved how they keep rolling out expansions, since it makes the game have much more replay value.

@SecretMapper

No...the Total Wars Series had quite a fair number of historical inaccuracies. Not entirely realistic.

I know. Still though my statement stands for its realism regarding battles and such.

Gotten more realistic with individual soldiers looking different lately. Still definitely one of the strategy games with better graphics out in the market now.
