The USA doesn't provide enough domestically, which would lead to reliance on the OECD nations. Which isn't good, because the OECD is a monopoly. I won't bother going into the finer points of a monopoly, but the OECD has a nasty track record of allowing prices to rise and maintain.

So I would advocate a diversification, to get rid of this reliance. Also, because oil isn't going to last forever, and because of climate problems.

Of course, what do you think? By embargoing them, and boycotting their oil, you're reducing your supply of oil, which would lead to an increase in prices ceteris parbius. The degree of increase is still dependant on how much oil you import from Iran though, and how readily you can switch to other oil exporting countries.

And it has led to Iran stating that they would immediately cut off oil exports to the EU.

Has Iraq not taught you anything at all? That you would end up with a huge mess, and waste literally trillions of dollars? Not to mention the strain with Russia and China if the USA invaded.

You can't just buy land off a country, and I'm sure they wouldn't let you do so. It's much too important to them, since it makes their monopole.

Another war would just ruin your country's economy. You have better chances to try to switch to other power sources than to start a global conflict.

And you think the world will let you? Don't be daft, unless the US is willing for a wave of Iranian terorists to plot revenge attacks. Nor are other countries going to stand by and watch. International relations are much more complex than ''Might is Right''.

Er yeah. Assuming America even has the stomach to fight another war.

When I said ''Might is Right'', it wasn't referring to who would win, but rather the concept that nothing else matters but force. A very realist concept if you ask me.
