Ok so i really like how the mods and admins keep the site under control. I am jealous so i figured since i have studied what they do i shall help them out a little. Also, they have taught me what to not do so i am passing ito n and telling others that. If you don't like this plz tell me. I am just trying to help the site So if u see me like telling someone what not to do u know wut i was doing!
It would help equally if you just continued making reports whenever someone breaks a rule, or let someone who's not doing it right, know the proper channels to reporting to the correct people. Solves it more efficiently.....
So if u see me like telling someone what not to do u know wut i was doing!
Well, not if the whole point of posting is just to mini-mod....which is against the rules. You don't need to go the whole mile to inform anyone they're breaking the rules. And this post reeks of irony. But you know, whatever.
but if i report ppl then the mods will become overwhelmed... but nicho i do see ur reasoning. Also, i don't do this often, just whenever i see like a two - four year necro, yah know?
but if i report ppl then the mods will become overwhelmed...
Uh, no? If you want to overwhelm a mod, you will need to ambush them in a dark alley, not report people to them. It's what they are there for, that's what you need to do. As a user, you can do nothing at all about most of the users you need to report anyway. If you confront them, you are even getting yourself in trouble and you could potentially get banned for interfering. So, please, report, if it worth reporting. Flag if it is not.
Necros: Report them or ignore them. Don't go post in them, even to point out it's a necro. If people care, they will already be aware, and if they are smart, they won't be posting in the thread either. So, report and ignore/just ignore. It works.
What would just telling them they are going to get in trouble going to do? This sometimes works for those who wish to keep their slate clean, but this is hardly the case most of the time and no one can know for sure whether it will work. The end effect can and will result in negative feedback, something that is unwanted and could have been avoided. Even if the heads up worked, the problem still isn't solved. While the moderation team looks far and wide for offending content, we aren't psychic. There have been plenty of times where we arrive on the scene....an hour and a half after the incident occurred. Just take a look at necro'd threads. This is what baffles me the most. People (most of the time) know second-hand not to tattle on a user directly on a thread whenever they break a rule. Except people who necro threads. It never fails. I even see veterans and otherwise forum-savvy users doing it. Pointing out a user necro'd directly on a thread is like pointing out you were first to post in a newly-uploaded flash game; it's pointless and most likely going to be deleted later. So I have a deal for y'all. You report necro's to me or another mod, you get two AP, the comment has a better chance of not being deleted, and we both don't have wasted work. It's a tanfastic idea if I say so myself.
It's why we stress that users report matters to a mod and not being Captain Obvious more than anything. It just saves time and work that can be put into other areas, like deleting spam or, yes, other users that decide to be Hurr Osaka and point the finger.
oh ok... so i will stop doing this and just report it i used to do that but then i thought... wow, i could do this instead! but i guess i will revert ot my old ways again!
Thx for teaching me guys, Schmiddy1234 (btw, this thread deserves to be locked )
