It's a one time deal of less than twenty dollars. I see no reason why the devs should let people play such a fantastic game for free!

To be fair, it's $26.95.

At any rate, it was in effect a pirate site. Get over it and find another free version if it means so much to you.

I don't like pirates. You shouldn't even want to get it for free. Support Notch by paying for the game.

Some people believe that Notch shut down minecraftforfree.com because thousands of dollars were being wasted.

Not really. He's offering a service that people want, and people are willing to pay money for it.

Technically, yes, it did lose Notch a lot of money. He lost $27 for every copy downloaded from that site.

Unless they would rather not have it at all than pay for it. Then no one is losing anything. That depends though. Minecraft is such a great game though for a great price. I mean why would you steal something actually worth it's given value with all those other crap games that cost a full $60 when they won't even give you a quarter of the entertainment time that Minecraft will? Not that I support Thievery. Thievery..Shrubbery...

I do believe he was proposing sarcasm with his farcical text.
