Since the popular thread from 2011 has gone to hell with outdated images, false page redirections and 4 blank pages of deleted posts, I think it's time to start anew for the 2012 community.
I'll start out by posting some strange (but real) sodas I found on Google. You can be the ones to determine whether or not you'd ever try any of them.
The label on the last one is real, but the flavor is fake. You'll have to learn the Jones way of doing things.
Chips are another favorite when it comes to bizarre flavors.
^ Those BLT chips are actually not too bad.
And, of course, the Canadian classic...
If you know of any strange flavors or you just happen to find some online, post them here. Pictures are always appreciated.
I Hawaii, Spam is a way of life. It's extremely popular
Lol, this reminds me of a type of Hawaiian candy...
Although personally I think these would sell more in Hawaii than anywhere else...
@ Penguin Drive-in Interestingly enough, I found a sandwich in that gallery that seemed to contain spam of all things! Maybe there are some drive-in opportunities for Penguin in Hawaii? =)
@ Taro Pie Ayeee! That purple... as John Travolta would say... it's electrifyin'! It probably doesn't taste at all like this, but from what it looks like I would think it tastes just like children's liquid Tylenol!
@ Herr's Chips You have to wonder, do they really taste like the food they're trying to mimic, or are they just seasoned with the same sauces/seasonings as those foods?
When it comes to a wide variety of bizarre chip flavors, Pringles may just have everyone else beat. I thought I knew about most flavors, but that article proved me wrong.
In that picture, I've actually tried the first two and the last one. The dill pickle flavor certainly was extreme enough to make me sneeze every few chips or so.
As for these flavors, I only wish some of them weren't limited edition:
Not entirely sure what country these are from, but from the writing and from what I know about bizarre food flavors, Japan would probably be a pretty good guess.
I really didn't think they'd go this far, though:
And what in the name of Satan's beard is "funky mustard"?
It probably doesn't taste at all like this, but from what it looks like I would think it tastes just like children's liquid Tylenol!
It doesn't taste anything like that. It doesn't taste like anything. It's basically just purple paste with lumps in it in a McDonald's apple pie coating. I've tried it and it's not something worth eating again.
Jimmy Dean Pancakes & Sausage on a Stick was a favorite in the 2011 thread. I'm surprised it hasn't been brought up in this year's version before today, unless I skipped a page somewhere...
PB&J vodka actually sounds pretty good. I don't know if it would beat Skittles vodka, but it's definitely up there in terms of bizarreness.
As for the baby food, let's just say it may not be the weirdest thing Gerber's ever done...
@ Pancake Stick Now that has to be either REALLY good or totally disgusting... I can't determine from the picture, but I'm leaning slightly towards the latter since it's a frozen product. =P
@ PB & J V (lol) I'm all for a good PB & J now and then, but to get drunk off it? Whose idea was that? The last thing I'd want to do when I'm out getting wasted is revert to my childhood. xD
@ Lamb Shanks and... Beyond Lol! It's obviously a hoax... I can see the photoshop marks... but I applaud the creative imagination behind it! Not many people can come up with something so off-the-wall as "Lamb Shanks & Raccoon Anus"!
@ Picante Sauce Now that is about the funniest thing I've seen in a long time!
I was able to read the first four flavors in the top picture, but the last one I actually had to look up to determine why it fit in with the rest of these strange flavors. Turns out it's in an entirely new category of its own.
Hard Luck Candy vodka doesn't look too different from Skittles vodka, but Alaska Distillery looks like it would fit in the same category as Referent. As for Georgi, I can only wonder what waffle vodka must taste like. Is it a syrup-based flavor or does it focus more on the waffle itself?
Going back to chips, but still tying it in with alcohol, I can't tell if the following are delicious or just plain bizarre:
