Long post time.
Asian Pringles
Gotta love whoever organized that shelf. Asian, Asian, Asian, Asian, Asian, Sour Cream & Onion.
I can't help but wonder though what a sushi-flavored potato chip would taste like. Would it really be that different from the seaweed Pringles flavor?
I don't know what to say about this one.
Neither do I, seeing as ginger ale isn't exactly the most flavorful of beverages. But if the Japanese pulled it off, who's to say it can't be delicious?
Chicken and Waffles lays.
That flavor deserves to win. Seriously, it has to. It's by far the most creative of the three flavors.
That's an opinion, though. We'll let the votes decide who the winner is.
Some kind've green pepsi
Good old Pepsi Shiso. An MBP(epsi)F favorite, along with Pepsi White and Pepsi Ice Cucumber.
Japan is a great place for Pepsi.
If you're wondering what
Shiso is, it's a Japanese herb similar to mint.
Rootbeer milk
It's like a rootbeer float, but without the fun part.
I've always wondered, how can anyone eat at pizza hut and not look like a giant bowling ball?
I've been seeing Pizza Hut ads on TV for years and I've never actually been to one. I don't really eat pizza or any cheese product for that matter, so it may be a bit hypocritical to make a judgment call here, but Pizza Hut seems to have a way of putting cheese in places it doesn't belong.
They also don't respect traditional crust boundaries anywhere in the world.
Oh well, at least the Middle East is safe...
I spoke too soon.
I know the chicken wing soda has already been seen. But how about the others.
There's a link somewhere in the earliest pages, but this would be the first image of all of Lester's Fixins in one place.
But if you thought Lester was living the single life in the bizarre soda industry, think again.
Unlike her husband's flavors, however, Melba's flavors seem to have a more obvious common theme.
Gotta love that pie. Melba also makes sweet tea.
Gourmet Doritos
Just like Pepsi, Japan is home to a wide variety of Doritos flavors you'd never expect to exist.
What other country would think of combining a gourmet meal with processed corn chips? The fact that beer also makes an appearance in three out of four of these packages hints that Japan may have a different idea of what a "gourmet meal" is than countries like the United States.
The most surprising thing to me, though, is that none of these "gourmet" flavors represent any meal that's even remotely Japanese.
Salty watermelon Pepsi
Refreshing and salty. Just like the ocean.
Fruity Lays
Fruit-flavored potato chips seem to be a distinctly Asian fad. You'll never see such chips in the States because Americans demand buttloads of salt in their potato chips.
Does anyone know if these or any other fruit-flavored chip are available in Asian supermarkets in the U.S.? I really want to try Potato Crisps brand potato chips.
International Lays/Walkers all look so interesting. What is it with America and boring chip flavors?
Conventionality beats creativity when it comes to mass-produced food in America. It's a sad truth for us MBFF-ers, but at the same time it does make foreign flavors all the more interesting.
Walker's, which is Lay's UK Name, certainly doesn't have much of a flavor filter, and in the bizarre foods community, that can only be a good thing. "BBQ Kangaroo" is now my second favorite Walker's flavor, dwarfed only by the only and only...
You know what I could really go for now, though, is some delicious Japanese fruit-flavored Oreos.
