Since the popular thread from 2011 has gone to hell with outdated images, false page redirections and 4 blank pages of deleted posts, I think it's time to start anew for the 2012 community.
I'll start out by posting some strange (but real) sodas I found on Google. You can be the ones to determine whether or not you'd ever try any of them.
The label on the last one is real, but the flavor is fake. You'll have to learn the Jones way of doing things.
Chips are another favorite when it comes to bizarre flavors.
^ Those BLT chips are actually not too bad.
And, of course, the Canadian classic...
If you know of any strange flavors or you just happen to find some online, post them here. Pictures are always appreciated.
I went to this one hotdog place today, and they had something called a "burrito dog," which is basically a chili dog wrapped in a tortilla. I wouldn't say it's bizarre, but it's definitely a creative idea.
Well, I just read through about 20 pages that I missed in my absence, and I have to say, between the chip flavors, the crazy fast food items, and everything that's already been posted somewhere, I'm absolutely speechless!
I'm hoping that, in Ernie's absence, I can get this thread up and running again to almost the same magnitude it was a year ago. Unfortunately, I'm nowhere near the bizarre food enthusiast Ernie is, so it's going to be very difficult to come up with bizarre foods without major participation of others as well! I'm hoping that, if he does ever return, this thread will be bigger than ever! But perhaps I'm just dreaming something that's out of our reach...
So for now, here are some funny pictures of everyday food:
I saw a post in The Tavern's newest battle thread, Battle of the Foods, made by our beloved moderator Devoidless, that sounded almost like a challenge...
What can you do with a hotdog?
Well, since Ernie isn't here (yet) to defend the honor of the great American delicacy known as the hot dog using vivid culinary imagery, allow me to step in and show you...
(Probably shouldn't eat that last one... =P)
It appears you're in luck. Now that he's returned, let's hope your prediction proves to be correct.
We'll see. Only time will tell!
and they tasted really, really weird.
Tell us more about this majestic flavor from the Far East!
First off, evidently pages 85, 87 and 88 didn't quite get the memo. Posting random pictures of food without generating any kind of discussion isn't what this thread is all about. That was the 2011 edition. If you would like to try again and post the same pictures and at least try to ignite some kind of discussion, that would be alright. I may also use some of the pictures you posted as references in the near future, because at the very least, you've made part of my job a little bit easier.
I would also like to thank those of you who have kept the thread going with actual discussion and not just random pictures of different food products, bizarre as they may be.
Now then. Hot dogs.
Well, since Ernie isn't here (yet) to defend the honor of the great American delicacy known as the hot dog using vivid culinary imagery, allow me to step in and show you...
Adding a few more to the list, the hot dog topped with corn relish:
The frito pie dog:
The mac & cheese dog:
And, my personal favorite, the simple classic, the bacon-wrapped hot dog:
