Ya dun f'd up when you made the new layout for the forums. Posts aren't showing up properly, and some other stuff too. I'm sure if you're anyone who is willing and able do something about it, you're aware of how bad it is because you probably spend more time on this site than I do, so I won't go too far into details. I just want you to know that I, Josh T. Boss, am displeased.
So then why even bother with forums in the first place? Why not just focus on the games entirely, rather than creating an entire community with an elaborate point system? Oh wait, I know. In order to generate traffic. Ads appear on the forums as well, and they make money from those ads from how much traffic the site gets. It all comes down to the consumer in the end.
There are just a few hundred users who use the Forums out of a few million gamers. So no, the Forums are used for generating money.
Because some players want a place to discuss games. This is a minority, a drop in the ocean. Ads don't appear in the Forums, they appear on the top of the AG page, any AG page, and within games.

True. Do you think, however that the users who use the forums generate a larger amount of traffic per capita? I do, and I have a suspicion that it's by a large number. It's probably not as high as with the games, but it's probably high enough to care about it.

And they want one that works properly too.

Then why is there a banner ad on the page I am viewing at this exact moment?

Honestly, no I don't. The percentage is negligible compared to millions of users.
And they want one that works properly too.
It more or less works properly.
Then why is there a banner ad on the page I am viewing at this exact moment?
As I said, it appears on top of ''any AG page''. The fact that so few users even bother or know about the Forum's existence points to the fact that the vast majority of AG's revenue comes from games, and that's why Forums are so low on the radar of AG's priorities.

Well that's a shame because I think you're not entirely correct, but I have a sneaking suspicion that neither of us know for sure.

And it's nice that that's good enough for you, but it's not for me.

Oh gee. I was going on the assumption that game designers make the games, and web designers make the webpage, but From what you said, everyone does everything. Is that correct? I understand that the new site is their main priority, and maybe I should wait to complain about the forums until it's done. It's just that I feel that it's one of the few things that I feel need to be done with this site. Isn't that half the point of a forum that half meant for suggestions, or did I read the title in the wrong context?

I've been here since the days when the number of users on the Forums were listed at the bottom of the page. That number has at the most ran to the low hundreds, and that was at the peak during 2008-1010.
everyone does everything. Is that correct?
No, but many of the AG staff have their own popular series to keep up with.
Isn't that half the point of a forum that half meant for suggestions, or did I read the title in the wrong context?
It isn't a really valid suggestion, given that Frank seems to be in contact with them. Apropos, they have been tinkering with the Forums and the HTML coding, which means they at least have an inkling of what is happening here. They do work in the shadows, as seen when thesceles came out to talk about the Captcha problems.
Well It's good to know they're working on it, and I understand it's your friends that I was talking about, and you don't appreciate the harsh words. For that I apologise. I do, however, feel that it is valid to suggest that they make their forums work properly, but If from a personal and monetary standpoint, they don't actually care if I'm unhappy with it, then I guess there was really no point in making it. It's silly to think that someone would try harder just because someone on the internet told them to.
In conclusion, please Webman, do what you can to make the forums I know and love so well run smoothly. If not for me, do it for Little One-Legged Gary.
Seeing as how it took three pages to say "F5", "what part of 'developers are working on AG3 which is top priority' do you not understand", and "I understand", I assume this thread has been answered, even if it started rough and whiny. If F5 does not work, then Ctrl+F5 to hard refresh. If hard refresh does not work, discombobulate your cache. If discombobulating your cache does not work, yank the cord from your computer and bathe in that nice mid-Spring sun for a couple hours.
In conclusion, please Webman
There is more than one 'Webman'. Otherwise, the progression of AG3 would be really slow!
do what you can to make the forums I know and love so well run smoothly
Over 99% of the forums run smoothly.
If not for me, do it for Little One-Legged Gary
Gary doesn't have legs. He slithers via mucous transportation.
