To exercise my creative mind and to help increase activity in this part of the forums, I'm going to ask an open-ended question or give you guys an open-ended situation every day in the hopes that some of you will come up with answers! =)
Kudos to Ernie for this thread idea, and also for giving me the first question...
What would you do if you woke up one morning and it was 1901?
The death penalty should be kept the way it is.It takes quite a bit to get the death penalty, and if the person did something that bad, then they probably deserve it. Hell, the movie theater shooter guy didn't get the death penalty? Or did he.....
I do not think I would want the death penalty instated here, but I do think prisoners should be tougher on criminals. Taxes pay to keep them there, where they may not have freedom, but they can still earn a bit of money, eat, it is somewhere to live. I think it would be good if the punishment was really hard so these criminals realized that whatever they did was not worth it. Make them do some sort of hard labour, or something completely miserable that nobody else wants to do for the duration of their sentence. Also, I think it is crazy that so many people can get out of punishment by pleading temporary insanity or something. Regardless of feeling kinda crazy for a bit, you still committed a crime and should be punished accordingly. So I suppose I would change these laws on crime here.
Since there has been no sign of Skeleton_Pilot in almost four months, I'm going to have to assume he won't be posting anything here any time soon or mind if anyone else does in his place.
Therefore, I am taking over this thread.
I will be posting new situations as frequently as I can. I can't promise every day, because I'm just not that creative, but I'll try and come up with something every few days.
What would you do if you could manipulate your own gravity? As in, you could fly, walk on walls and ceilings, jump as high as you wanted....etc without the limits of gravity or its effects.

Realisticly, I think I would die after finding out I had the ability to control gravity. Reason why I think that is when you do something for the first time, you aren't immedietly an expert on doing it, and you need practice. Then take into consideration that gravity could potentially kill you if the force is strong enough. Now think about the fact that you're doing something you have no idea how to do while constantly having the option to make the gravity too strong on yourself and just make a pancake (or maybe appear to disapear into thin air while you actually just collapsed all your atoms)
Now there's the other option which is a hopeful case, that you actually don't end up killing yourself when just learning that you have to ability to alter gravity and you are able to correctly alter gravity as well to give you that ability to fly or walk on walls and stuff. Well you'd probably be really obvious about it so someone will see you doing it, you'll be interviewed and stuff for a while, have a facebook page dedicated to you blah blah blah (more social media) then government captures you in your sleep (pretty much any government) and you end up in a lab having tests done on you while they're busy faking your death for the media.
Then there is that option that you dont kill yourself, don't get captured and tested on, and no one really bothers you even though you have this awsome ability. In this case I would probably just have mildly low gravity on most of the time and enjoy the high jumping you could do, then make gravity stronger so I could do pushups and stuff to increase strength more easily. Flying seems like it would be too much of a pain plus dealing with that nasty downward acceleration to the earth when you want to come back down.
Aside from jumping and flying around for pure pleasure, I'd utilize the ceiling-walking ability to make sneaky entrances into places such as, I don't know, locker rooms of the female variety?
I would love to fly, but if I hit something and/or for whatever reason lost consciousness while in the air, my chances of survival wouldn't be tremendous and the cause of my death would be a complete mystery to everyone. So I probably won't be doing much of that unless I was in a more remote location.
Climbing on walls or on the ceiling could be fun for a short amount of time, but I'd get bored with it almost as quickly as I started. Neither "skill" seems like they would have any practical uses.
In short, I would probably only use my gravity-defying powers if the situation called for it, which would probably be once or twice in a lifetime.
I have to say, I'm disappointed (but not surprised) with the turnout of this thread revival. I suppose these things do take time, but I will not be posting a new situation until I'm sure more people are interested.
I would not tell people that I had this power but use it. That way all the Physics people would be freaking out trying to figure out a logical way to how I was doing it.

What could work is either have one person pick the most creative or most liked answer then have them post one "heres the situation" for 2 days (or more) then just keep repeating. That way one person won't be just running dry of ideas for the thread.
