- Walkthrough: Step-by-Step Directions -
_________________________________________________________

1.) Go to Area 3 and pick up Note 1 (on the table to right). (Click anywhere on the screen after reading the note to continue.)
2.) Go to Area 4 and pick up the Book (on the table to left).
3.) Go to Area 1 and use the Book in the Bookshelf (interaction point).
4.) Go to Area 5 and pick up Note 2 (on bookshelf in the bottom left corner of the screen) and the Batteries (on table center).
5.) Go to Area 9 and pick up the Room Key.
6.) Go to Area 11 and click on the grating (interaction point on the back wall). This will lead you to Area 12, the Travller.

7.) To obtain Note 3 from the Traveller follow this dialogue string:
Who are you...? > You are a real, sleeping human? > What are you doing here? > Who are "they"?
(The first three dialogue options are located at the top. The last dialogue option, "who are "they"?" will appear at the bottom.)
(The message, "He handed me a piece of paper." will show up at the bottom of the screen. This means you have obtained the note.)
(You may wish to click on the other dialogue options to read more storyline.)
(Click "Goodbye..." to exit Area 12 (the Traveller) and to return to Area 11.

8.) Go to Area 13 and pick up Note 4 (right corner of grating on back wall).
9.) Go to Area 14 and pick up the flashlight (center of room).
10.) Combine the batteries with the flashlight.

11.) Go to Area 15 and use the flashlight.
Pick up Note 5 (in the bottom left corner of the fireplace in the center of the room).
(Note: Some areas in the game always require you to use the flashlight every time you enter that area. I will list the turn on flashlight step only once for each area.
If your character says, "It's too dark to see anything..." or something like that, then you must use your flashlight to continue.)

12.) Go to Area 16 and remember or write down the Code on the chalkboard (center of room).
Pick up Note 6 (on ground underneath middle table in center of room).
Pick up the pointer (on furthers right table).

13.) Go to Area 17 and use the pointer on the golden key (center of room on pipe near ceiling).
14.) Go to Area 13 and pick up the golden key (on floor in center of room).

15.) Go to Area 14 and click on the keypad (interaction point). This will take you to Area 18.
On the keypad type in the Code from the chalkboard in Step 12. If the light on the keypad turns green the Code was entered correctly.
(Note: The password is randomly generated each game. This means the password shown on the map should not work for you. Use the password you get from the chalkboard.)
(Note: Some users experience a bug in the game where the code shown on the chalkboard does not work. I can not help you if that happens. Possibly try to contact an administrator from this site for help).

16.) Go to Area 14 and click on the Hand Crank (interaction point) multiple times to open the Door.
17.) Go to Area 19 and use the flashlight.
18.) Go to Area 21 and pick up the Note 7 (around the bottom left corner of the hallway).

19.) Go to Area 25 and pick up the Needle (near the left corner of the screen, shinning).
Pick up Note 8 (near top right of screen, on top of right dresser in the left most box).
(Optional) Pick up the Plushie Tiger (bottom right corner of screen, behind umbrella).

20.) [Optional] Do this step to unlock the secret ending that happens when you finish the game.
Go to Area 6 and use the room key (the silver key) on the Door.
Go to Area 26 and use (place) the Plushie Tiger on Cody's Bed (interaction point, middle bunk bed on right, click on the bed mattress).
(You can read the names of each bed if you click on the nameplates in front of each bed.)
(Note: Leaving the Plushie Tiger on other beds does not give any additional secret endings. I tested this myself for every bed.)

21.) Go to Area 27 and use the golden key on the Door.
22.) Go to Area 29 and use the flashlight.

23.) Go to Area 30 (click on the trailer near the right side of Area 29 to enter Area 30)
and pick up Note 9 (near front left corner of screen in tree).

24.) Go to Area 32 (click on the Scarecrow seen in Area 31 to enter Area 32)
and pick up the Thread (this is a very tiny point to click on and is located on the Scarecrow's right (to your left) shoulder underneath the hat.)
combine the Thread with the Needle.

25.) Go to Area 35 and pick up Note 10 (a tiny note in a tree to the right of the screen).
26.) Go to Area 37 and pick up the Bag with a whole (on ground near center of screen).
Combine the Threaded Needle with the Bag with a whole to make an Empty Bag.
Use the Empty Bag on the Flour (interaction point, on ground near bottom left of screen).

27.) Go to Area 38 and pick up Note 11 (on ground to left between two trees).
28.) Go to Area 38 and use the 1/3 Full Bag on the Mound of Ground (interaction point, on ground near bottom right of screen).
29.) Go to Area 42 and pick up the Key by clicking on the Red Pot near bottom right of the Well.
30.) Go to Area 33 and use the 2/3 Full Bag on the Stones (interaction point, on ground near left-center of screen).
31.) Go to Area 9 and use the Key on the Door (on the back wall).

32.) Go to Area 43 and pick up the Pipe Wrench on the table (right-center of screen).
Pick up Note 12 (behind glass portion of door, on crates in middle-left side of the screen. The spot to click on is small).

33.) Go to Area 17 and use the Pipe Wrench on the Valve (interaction point, upper right corner of screen).
34.) Go to Area 24 and use the Pipe Wrench on the Valve (interaction point, bottom left corner of screen).
35.) Go to Area 37 and use the Full Bag on the 5KG Contraption (interaction point, right side of screen).

36.) Go to Area 44 and use the Pipe Wrench on the Valve (interaction point, center of screen).
Pick up Note 13 (in between two pipes in the right-middle of the screen).

37.) Go to Area 45 and pick up Note 14 (slightly left of the center of the screen between some trees).

38.) Go to Area 47 and pick up Note 15 (on the right on the fountain ledge).
The direction to turn of the fountain on on the map. Click on 1, then click on 2, then click on 3, and then click on 4 (the numbers correspond with the numbers marked on the map I have provided).
If, for some reason the map is no longer available you can do the following to get the fountain to run:
- Make sure that all the stones are off (not blue) on the Fountain Control Panel (interaction point, bottom right of screen). The default position is all off.
- In this order click on the round stones:
- First, click on the round stone in the bottom row, 2nd from the left.
- Second, click on the round stone in the top row, 3rd from the left.
- Third, click on the round stone in the top row, 2nd from the left.
- Fourth, click on the round stone in the bottom row, 3rd from the left.
If done correctly all the round stones should be blue and the fountain should overflow with water.

39.) Go to Area 7 and click on the Elevator Button (interaction point, to the right of elevator).
Wait for the Elevator to reach your floor and then click on the Elevator to see the Elevator Control Panel (Area 48)
Click on Floor 2. This will take you to Area 49.

40.) Once in Area 49 use the flashlight.
41.) Go to Area 50 and pick up the Screwdriver (just right of the center of the screen on a bookshelf).
Quickly go to Area 49 after obtaining the Screwdriver.
If you move to slow Felicity will get you and you will lose the game; however, there is little penalty for losing as you restart back at the Elevator Control Panel.

42.) In Area 49 quickly use the Screwdriver to remove the screws on the Panel covering the Elevator Button (interaction point, left-middle of screen).
You will drop the Screwdriver. When this happens pick up the screwdriver (it goes into your inventory) and use the Screwdriver again to remove the screws on the Panel covering the Elevator Button (interaction point, left-middle of screen).
Click on the Elevator Button (interaction point, left-middle of screen).
Click on the Elevator
If you do not do these steps quickly enough Felicity will get you and you will lose the game; however, there is little penalty for losing as you restart back at the Elevator Control Panel.

43.) Take the Elevator to Floor -1 (Area 51).
44.) Go to Area 52 and use the Screwdriver to unscrew the Panel (interaction point, left side of screen).
Pick up the Long Rope

45.) [Optional] Go to Area 51 and then from there Go to Area 10 to unlock the Door between the two areas.
46.) Go to Area 42 and use the Long Rope on the Top of the Well (interaction point, pole that runs along the top of the well).
Click on The Well to go to Area 53.

47.) In Area 53, click on the Rope to go to Area 54.
48.) [Optional] In Area 54 click on the Rope or Top of the Screen to see a Secret Screen.

49.) Go to Area 58. The game will be completed at this point.

- How To Use This Guide -
_________________________________________________________

- Key Words

This guide utilizes key words.
Items, interaction points, notes, and areas will be shown in bold text. Actions will be shown in italicized text.

- List of Actions and Definitions

Click on: Click on the specified area.
Clicking on: Click on the specified area.
Combine: Click an item from your inventory and then click another item from your inventory to combine them (only works with certain items).
Go to: Move your character to the indicated area.
Pick up: Click on an item to pick it up (items are placed in your inventor automatically).
Remember or Write Down: Remember or write down a specific piece of information given in the game.
Type in: Click on the keypad numbers to type in the code. This action is only used once in the game.
Use: Click an item from your inventory and then use it to interact with other items and interaction points in the game.

- What are interaction points?

Interaction points are areas in the game that can be manipulated by the player or points in the game that can be clicked to bring up in-game text.
The interaction points include valves that can be turn, panels that open doors, the buttons that open the elevator, doors and more. Some interaction points require an item to manipulate them.
Doors and some (unnecessary) interaction points are not circled on the map.

- What are Areas?

Areas are the different screens a player can move to in the game. One game screen = One Area. There are 58 areas total. Each area is numbered on the map.

What are Area Connections?
Area connections are the points that connect two areas (two game screens). These are represented by green arrows on the map. Some interaction points will take you to an additional area (game screen). These are represented by blue arrows on the map.
One area can lead to multiple different areas depending on where you click, notably Area 9 which leads to 5 different areas depending on which door or stair case you click.

- How to use the Step-by-Step Directions

If you are starting a new game follow the directions from Step 1.) and follow them in order. The directions should take you through the game the most quickest and complete way possible.

If you are not starting from the beginning, just search for a key word, item, or area in which you are stuck and then follow the directions form there.

- Example Guide Directions:

21.) Go to Area 27 and use the golden key on the Door. - This is the 21st step in the guide. The directions mean, to move to the area labelled 27 on the map, then click on the golden key in your inventory (which should put the key on your cursor) and then click on the door to unlock the door.

- Secrets and Miscellaneous (Contains spoilers) -
_________________________________________________________

- How to Unlock the Secret Ending

To unlock the Secret Ending place the Plushie Tiger (found in Area 25 in the bottom right corner of the screen) on Cody's Bed (located in Area 26)
Here is a screenshot of the secret ending:
http://i1287.photobucket.com/albums/a627/Reton8/AG%20Image%20Uploads/SecretEnding.png

- What all the Notes say

Here is a screenshot of all 15 notes and what they say:
http://i1287.photobucket.com/albums/a627/Reton8/AG%20Image%20Uploads/FullNote.png

- What happens when you let Felicity catch you?

In the areas where you obtain the Screwdriver (Area 49 and Area 50) you are confronted with Felicity, a woman who has lost her sanity from staying in the dream realm for too long.
In these areas of the game she will slowly come at you. If you do not escape her you will die of a heart attack in your bed. Luckily, the game will start you off only one or two screens before the areas with the Screwdriver with all your progress intact.
Here is a screenshot of what happens when Felicity catches you:
http://i1287.photobucket.com/albums/a627/Reton8/AG%20Image%20Uploads/IfCaptured.png

- A Secret Screen

After entering the well, the game does not give you much a reason to back track. At this point you have done all there needs to be and simply walk a few screen right to see the ending. Most players will probably never
try to exit the well (this is why I consider this a secret). But if you enter the well and try to leave you will see a secret screen.

To view this secret screen, go to Area 54 and then click on the Rope or The Top of the Screen. You will now be peering out of the well, form the bottom looking up, and you will be able to see three shadowy figures with glowing eyes (Shadow People?) staring back at you.
Here is a screenshot:

About the last secret:

When I was following this guide, I forgot to put the plushie tiger in Cody's bed, and when I clicked the rope, there were no shadow people there (and the sky was a bit brighter).

You're going to have to prove this with a screenshot, because right now I have strong evidence that would indicate that you are incorrect.

I replayed the game three more times under certain, specific conditions and these were the results.

1.) Conditions: Collected all 15 notes, talked to the traveller, picked up bedroom key, did not pick up bear, went into bedroom, did not put bear on Cody's bed. (This means all notes and no secret ending.)
Result: Secret screen was there. The shadow people were showing.

2.) Conditions: Collected 2 notes only, did not talk to the traveller, picked up bedroom key, picked up bear, went into bedroom, put bear on Cody's bed. (This means not all notes, but got the secret ending.)
Results: Secret screen was there. The shadow people were showing.

3.) Conditions: Collected 1 note only, did not talk to the traveller, did not pick up bedroom key, did not pick up bear, did not go into bedroom, did not put bear on Cody's bed. (This means I got the minimum amount of notes and did not get the secret ending. I did nothing extra in this playthrough. I didn't even unlock the one door in the basement. I did the bare minimum to complete the game.)
Results: Secret screen was there. The shadow people were showing.

So, I know for a fact that getting the secret ending has no affect on the secret screen and I know for a fact getting the notes has no affect either.

The secret screen should always be there.

How did you know that you needed to put it on Cody's bed, just trial and error?

How did you know that you needed to put it on Cody's bed, just trial and error?

I believe there was a clue in the first game Deep Sleep. Also, there is another thread (Questions about Deeper Sleep: Secrets) where someone asked where to put the bear. Plus I also tested putting the bear on the different beds and then finishing the game to see the result for each bed. :]

If you are playing on Newgrounds, there are 4 "medals" (basically achievements) that you can get. The first one is just completing the game, the second is collecting all the paper. The other 2 are "secret medals" that you find on your own. The third medal (and first secret) is ringing the bell 50 times. You can also do this in the first game, deep sleep. the last medal (and second secret) is putting the tiger plush in Cody's bed, which you can get a hint from the first game too. To find the hint, you go through the lobby (room with the bell), through the first dark room, then in the second dark room, you take a right. In that room, you should see an old rocking horse toy, and writing on the wall that reads "Cody can't sleep without his tiger plushy" or something similar .

I played Deeper Sleep immediately after Deep Sleep. This made remembering the correct bed much simpler.

The image is grainy, but it's in the dark room above the rocking horse.
