well of course console for gameplay but you can play handheld more because you're not limited to where you are and with the PS vita you can play PS3 games online with people who are playing on a PS3 and with the WiiU (BTW they're going to change the name i think) you will be able to let your dad or brother etc. watch TV and then go play on the touch screen tablet without the TV so it's kinda both but of course you'll probably have to have your WiiU on and be within a certain distance for that
and with hand held there is less space in it for them to put more processors so it won't be capable of doing as much and it also suffers a graphics penalty because at least with Ipod touches you can have games with decent graphics for being what it is but there's much lagging and a lowing frames per second which is also very important so if you stay home and are able to play on your console then go for a console, if you go out allot then you should might want to stick with a handheld portable gaming device
I'm afraid to try any of the new hand-helds because most of my friends say they're overpriced and unconvenient. Unconvenient because on the new PSP or whatever it's called you have to download games for it - actually use the PS store. I don't have a credit card and it's not very practical to keep buying those money cards. I'd rather get my games in one trip and less time wasting. I preferred having the small disk. I still have my old PSP from years ago, and it's still very fun to play on. It even has internet access, so that's convenient.
However I prefer consoles because the games are usually better in quality overall. Gameplay, aesthetics, etc. An example would be Assassin's Creed. There's far more content on the console versions, but that doesn't mean hand-helds are useless; just not as good from my perspective.
I say console because you have better power, graphics, and more variety. Although i do like the idea of handhelds because they are mobile, it seems like they are to expensive for their worth. You can buy a much better console for like 100 bucks more.
My personal problem with modern handhelds is that the battery life keeps getting shorter and shorter.
They keep adding more and more stuff that consumes the battery life. Last time I checked my PSP could last four-five hours without being charged. I think that's good enough considering how many things it can do.
I preffer a console. A handheld is good if you have to travel somewhere and you won't be able to use a console for a long, long time. So, in my opinion, I like both, but the consoles are much better in other many things.
Anyway, there's nothing like a powerfull laptop or deskopt PC. :P
I can't say I play handhelds as much as I used to when I was younger, though.
Handhelds because its portable and cheap. Though I don't like the oversized handhelds (Wii U and DS XL).
The Wii U won't be a handheld and you can always get a DS Lite.

I know, right? My 3DS doesn't seem to last anywhere close to what my DS could, even when I'm playing DS games. Still, being able to charge the thing without buying batteries all the time is an evolution from the old GameBoys.
you don't need to apoligize, i do things like that all the time, only i'm not in a bad mood i just do it because i don't like that post/user XD to make this not spam i will add that at least when you had to buy batteries to make it run you could just bring extra batteries and not have to worry about running out and they should make it so that modern handhelds can be battery opperated so that you can keep playing on long roadtrips, unless you can charge it through a cigaret liter in the car like you can with portable DVD players
wow u dont know anything do u? Wii U is also a hand held because it has a screen on the controller so its both a console and a hand held.
It's a handheld only in that you hold it in your hands. It's still tethered to the console. Just because it has a screen doesn't make it any less of a controller, by that logic you might as well call the Wii a handheld.
I can't stand playing games on handheld devices. I don't even download games on my Android phone because I can't focus on "action" with such a small screen, nor do I care to play any sort of electronic game without a controller of some kind.
