We're all familiar with how many bizarre food flavors exist in today's world. I figured the same basic thread could be made for architecture.
The advantage to strange/interesting architecture over food is that it isn't subject to last only as long as the food does; buildings can last for many years, so theoretically you could visit just about any one of the buildings that will be posted in this thread without worrying about them being gone forever.
What strange/interesting buildings have you come across?
Haha, now THAT is some awesome architecture! Are there two of them? It looks like there are two identical houses in two completely different locations...
I couldn't resist. Anyway, while we're on the subject of Korea, I thought it might be fitting to bring up Mr Toilet House in South Korea.
One day, a giant passed by and said "OMG, finally a toilet big enough, let's try it!" The poor people inside screamed while being buried under a tsunami of diarrhea! Ahhhh, run! -- `O// -- `O// -- `O//
There is only one, which means one picture is more recent than the other. I can't confirm which image is the more recent, unfortunately, but I can* tell you that the architect, Sim Jae-duck, was born in a toilet according to his website.
Where is that, I wonder? By the looks of it, I'm guessing it's somewhere in Asia, but it seriously looks like a McDonald's playground built into a house.
Depending on if I'm feeling up to it, I may do a Las Vegas architecture exhibition within the next week in the hopes of bringing this thread back. Like everything else in Vegas, the architecture has no rules.
There is one building in Las Vegas, however, that I cannot find a picture of due to the fact that I have no idea what the building's name function is. All I know is, it's a large modern-looking black box right next to the freeway. If anyone has any information on this building, please come forward. This is the thread to do it.
